Both Jones and Hopkins hit their prime after their fight, but I don't see how anyone could think Taylor performed better than Jones against Hopkins.

He also Lost to Igor Ruzhnikov (Russia, 139, 1986), John Reid (Ireland, 156, 1986), Andy Liebing (Cuba, 156, 1986), Frank Liles (almost KTFO, US nationals, 156, 1988) and Gerald McClellan (US Golden Gloves, 156, 1988). Then, Jones got a gift to the 1988 Olympics when every sane person knows it should of been Gerald McClellan going to Seoul. Mediocre Richie Woodhall gave Jones a very close fight in the semi-finals. Then Park Si-Hun was Jones' 13th amateur loss.

Also remember that Jermain Taylor looked better against Bernard Hopkins than Jones did and that Michael Nunn looked better against James Toney than Jones did. People should not forget the Schooling that Montell Griffin put on Jones. Let's not forget 40-year-old Mike McCallum giving Jones a really close fight. Let's not forget Lou Del Valle almost KTFO Jones. Let's not forget Antonio Tarver KTFO Jones. Let's not forget Glencoffe Johnson KTFO Jones. Let's not forget Antonio Tarver beat Jones four times - 1982 (robbed), 2003 (robbed), 2004 and 2005. Jones' best resume is the guys he avoided and ducked - Gerald McClellan, Lamar Parks, Julian Jackson, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Michael Nunn, Graciano Rocchigiani, Fabrice Tiozzo, Steve Collins, Henry Maske, Dariusz Michalczewski, James Toney II, Bernard Hopkins II, Joe Calzaghe, Vassilliy Jirov, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, the list goes on.
he got schooled by Montel Griffin??? when was this?

and also who the hell are Lamar Parks, Julian Jackson, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Michael Nunn, Graciano Rocchigiani, Fabrice Tiozzo, Steve Collins, Henry Maske, Dariusz Michalczewski

and didnt he dominate Hopkins and Toney, and didnt he offer Hopkins a rematch but Hopkins refused cause he wanted 50-50 purse although he would have gotten more money from the offer he was given by Roy

How did I miss this the first time?

Officially the worst poster on Boxing scene. You make Manny P look mature & Bloodshed/Nash/whatever sound reasonable.

This has to be the single most ******ed post ever on boxingscene. JUYJUY is a complete ******, and Eubank nuthugger.

Honestly. He beat the **** out Toney, and Hopkins. Nunn got KO'ed by Toney, how can you say he looked better?! Toney couldn't TOUCH Roy. Unless by "looked better" you mean "got hit more" then yeah, you have a point. Taylor squeeks two close, controversial decisions over B-Hop and somehow he "looked better" than Roy did, when Hopkins wasn't all washed up, and Roy beat him at least 8-4, no controversy involved. Roy beat Tarver once, and got caught the second time, was never the same after that. Why fight a guy on the decline? If he beats up Benn then he beat an old man, who cares?

Also, you should not post here if you don't know who Julian Jackson was. That would have been an interesting fight, prime vs prime.

This proves you haven't really seen the fight, first the fight was a close fight, all 3 judges had Jones winning by 4 points, considering that Jones was the little golden boy at that time. In my opinion the fight could've gone either way, Hop thought he won the fight, then he changed his mind after he lost to Taylor in the first fight.

Taylor did look better then Jones, Taylor actually really won his fights against Hop.
Hop of today is a much better boxer, then the Hop that fought Jones. Hop was still green at the time he fought Jones, Hop came late into boxing.

Jones is overrated, no ifs & buts about it.
