    If Mayweather FIghts Canelo

IF (which i doubt) Mayweather picked Canelo to fight next would this affect your view of him? I certainly wouldn't consider him a cherry picker anymore he always picks Good guys but guys that HE knows he can beat without a doubt i don't think Canelo falls into this category is the Hungriest out there, Strongest and biggest threat, the way i see it he would be more of a real threat than anybody else. Now if he picks Guerrero

I may catch a lot of flack for this, but I think Canelo is a legit opponent. He has the age on his side, stronger than Floyd, a naturally bigger guy, hasn't lost, and can put you to sleep with his power. This kid can fight and I feel with Floyd taking so much time off between fights could prove disaster if he fights Canelo. The Ghost wouldn't be much of a threat, but something makes me uneasy about the Canelo fight. I'd rather not see any of the greats lose to these young bucks, but it's the nature of boxing. Out with the old, in with the new. But Canelo? lol

This would be on the same level as Martinez fighting JCC Jr except that Canelo would beat his ass

Canelo is a very legit opponent Kid is the truth in my book i would put him way!!! Above in the threat meter than Guerrero and would make sense money wise too so why would Floyd not pick him?

I don't know if Canelo has the footwork to put Floyd into the sort of positions Miguel Cotto put him in. Cotto's footwork has undergone an immense improvement under the tutelage of Pedro Diaz and it was this allowed him to corner Floyd and put him back against the ropes.

On top of that, Canelo is a vicious puncher but would a guy this inexperienced have the patience to time his combinations well when he gets in close, rather than just letting loose?

Does he have a tight enough defence both inside and in the centre of the ring to stop Floyd potshotting him cleanly or landing the eye-catching blows?

And does he actually have the stamina to chase Mayweather around the ring and continue to physically boss him on the inside?

I think there are question marks over Canelo in all these areas, and failure in any one of them almost certainly means defeat against Mayweather.

I think the answer to your Questions are yes except in the foot work department you are right about Cotto but in every other department Canelo looks more impressive, he is not slow and doesnt gas and i believe he can take Floyds punches and hurt Floyd back he is not that Inexperienced the kid has 40 fights maybe not at Mega star level but when he fights he doesn't look shy at all in that ring.

The fight would be good, but it'd be better if Canelo can beat Cotto first.

At this stage in the game Canelo at 154 might be as much as a risk as fighting Martinez at 160. I need to see how Mayweather looks against RG before I can really guage how much of threat Canelo is. (And I need to see Canelo vs. Cotto/Trout for that matter).

He hasn't been in the ring in a very long time.

At this point it would be a legit fight. True Canelo doesn't use the angles as well as Cotto but he makes up for that in the power department. Someone being able to put constant pressure on Floyd is something we haven't seen in many years.
Its what made a Margarito match up so interesting back in the day because all the defense in the world can't stop someone that doesn't respect your power and will just keep coming forward.

Canelo isn't a volume punching pressure fighter. He's a boxer puncher. Hes not going to try and pull a Robert Guerrero on Mayweather. And I think he will respect Floyds power. Canelo's chin is still a little suspect and Floyd has shown he can still hurt people. (Mosley, Ortiz, Cotto)
