The only advantages canelo has is his youth and lack of stiff quality opposition unlike Cotto. Unfortunately, Cotto has been in several wars and been assaulted by a criminal. I go with my dude always and if he loses it will zero impact on his legacy as one of the ATG. COTTO gave Money the stiffest competition in years yet he washed up by those infused with envy and hate. Delusional.

People are ****** to think Cotto is washed up. He beat down Margarito and gave Mayweather the toughest fight of his career. Cotto is not the sme Cotto he was at 147 but some of the things missing he makes up for them with more experience, better trainer/training and making the jab his first option on the offensive side not to mention the weight class is perfect so now Cotto can wear bigger gloves and that helps his defense

Lets not get carried away, he was out boxing Margarito that was it. Margarito eye got inflammed like everyone knew it was gonna do before the fight. If anything Cotto looked the most beat down and had the body langauge of a knee taker in that last round before the stoppage.

With May weather he did better then we all thought. Great performance, but toughest fight of mayweather life. I have to say castillo did that. Yes i know mayweather arm was injured.

Canelo simply due to age difference.

Cotto starts up looking good, then gets caught with a left upper-hook and is hurt....he starts fighting scared and eventually gets nailed again and down he goes.....he can win, but he'd need to land something big on Canelo early....Cotto's too small/chinny and always gets tired...i have a hard time believeing he can survive if the fight goes past 9 unless he has Canelo completely on the defensive....

At least Cotto is a HOF & don't need plaster to win fights.

This is one of the most wanted fights in all of boxing right now and you have Puerto Rico vs. Mex. You know there will be heated arguments, as well as nationalistic trolling and the like. It's not cool but it's expected.

Honestly, Cotto is a proven fighter and has a better skillset than Alvarez. Alvarez has youth and, probably, size. In the power department, I don't know because Cotto is not a KO artist, like Trinidad, Hearns or Julian Jackson to name a few, but he has the kind of thudding shots that stay with you and wear you down. Cotto has a better jab, ring movement, timing, and experience fighting at the top level.

I say that Cotto wins by decision if he fights a disciplined fight and goes into the fight well conditioned, with good stamina, so he can execute his plan. If it's a firefight, it's a tossup but I don't like Cotto in that type of fight this late in his career. All in all, it's a competitive fight and it would be a very good win for Cotto. For Alvarez, it would be massive and would be his "graduation" of sorts and would get him a good level of respect from skeptics.

The big gloves don't really help his defense much. Floyd was landing a lot of shots around Cotto's gloves and up the middle.

Canelo has nasty uppercuts and can mix them up with hooks in combinations.
