I voted Canelo by KO because he is a bigger, younger, faster, harder hitting fighter than Cotto, plus he has better stamina and takes a punch better in my opinion. That's just my opinion and the only thing that would change my mind is for Canelo to lose a fight or look bad.I saw the fight between Cotto's brother and Canelo and every fight he has had since then. I have always bet at least $100 on Canelo to win every fight except his fight with Lopez. I would have had to bet 100 dollars to win 5 dollars so it was not worth a bet. I will be betting on Canelo again this May regardless of who his opponent is. Canelo-Cotto would be a great fight and I hope it happens.

Canelo takes rounds or parts of rounds off and Cotto will exploit that.
Mayweather/De La Hoya?
Morales/Zaragoza?
Holyfield/Qawi 1?
Arguello/Olivares?
How about Cotto himself vs Mosley?

my gut tells me that cotto will get hurt and either run or get stopped. canelo is too patient to break cotto down if he gets on his bike. i think cotto will box very well until he's hit with a big punch.
he's got the tools to win, though, does cotto. he's got a nice jab, even if he's going to be giving up height and reach. he's a very good offensive fighter. he'll land his punches, and probably be able to diffuse canelo's power early on.
i still think alvarez catches up with him, though. he's got a huge left hook, and his hands are faster than cotto's. when cotto opens up offensively he's always been susceptible.
he's never faced a hitter like canelo. nobody really comes close. mosley could punch, but when he was 22 he was a lightweight. at 22 canelo is a very big jr MW.
mosley got him on his bike. judah hurt him. clottey effected him. pacquiao rocked his world and put him on his bike.
the best way to beat cotto is to hit him and hurt him. you can either knock him out, or make him run. either way, you can win the fight. a bad idea for alvarez would be to box. cotto could very well slide around and box his doors off with his eye catching boxing that he does off of the jab. he's got amazing timing with the jab. he put those things on floyd mayweather. he can do it to canelo.

I think it'd be a toss-up at this point. If Cotto can catch him in the early rounds, I think he'd instantly take him out . At the same time, Canelo has enough pop on his punches to break Cotto down.

Not sure. I just don't know how to judge Canelo at this point.
I think he has good parts to his game but I haven't seen him tested against top opposition so I would lean on Cotto.

I think the poll is pretty accurate. Canelo's best chance is to pressure and stop Cotto, because Cotto has the skill/experience to out-box him. Maybe Canelo can catch Cotto with a counter. Canelo's chin/endurance/stamina is still questionable, and Cotto has respectable pop, so maybe he can hurt Canelo.
Toss up fight.
