Know what else? He's also lost to some of the best in the world. Two in brutal fashion. Canelo is the future and if Cotto gives him a chance he'll prove it.
Who is his biggest win for you to render this conclusion? Most of his hype comes from his freckles, red hair, good looks that brings a lot of attention to him. Until he beats someone credible I will stand by my opinions

Well, Cotto could be the next credible opponent that he faces. Who was Cotto's credible opponent before he fought Mosley? It didn't matter because Mosley gave him a shot and Cotto proved himself to be more than worthy. If Cotto gives Canelo a shot he will prove himself worthy. Who did Pac beat to render a conclusion that he would beat Barrera when they first fought? I didn't matter because when they fought Pac beat the hell out of him. So sit back and hope that Cotto will get past Trout. Because if he does there is a good chance Canelo can fight him at least I hope he does. When it happens he'll make a believer out of you.

Zab Judah, Paulie Malignaggi, Carlos Quintana, Ricardo Torres, Carlos Maussa. Alvarez hasn't fought anyone on that level. And Cotto didn't get a world title and hold it hostage and fighting unworthy opponents. period

          • Nelo wins via Fatality. Cotto takes a dozen knees, and ricans discredit the win by saying he's over-the-hill.

OK so who do you think Canelo should fight to prove himself worthy of Cotto? The guy is already 41-0 it's now or never. How long until Canelo can finally fight someone good which is what Cotto is? It's too soon to put him in with Sergio or Floyd no matter what Canelo thinks of the situation. Cotto is the right opponent. Real good but not extremely elite. He's the perfect test for Canelo right now. Even the date in which they could fight is perfect. A Mexican and Puerto Rican fighting on Cinco de Mayo weekend. The Latino fanbase couldn't ask for a better match.

All due respect to Cotto and his fans(I'm a fan too) but I just feel Canelo will win. Cotto will give Canelo his biggest test to date but I just see his youth, power and combination punching beating Cotto down the stretch.

                • alvarez's style of wide punching might actually benefit him here, but i dont think anyone's been in a fight with cotto without receaving a beating, dont know if saul has the durability

but i can't really focus enough to truely break it down in my head at the moment, half asleep

lol anyone in the top 10. Guys such as Austin Trout, Carlos Molina, Erislandy Lara, K9 Bundrage, James Kirkland, Alfredo Angulo. Guys like that. So are you satisfied with Alvarez fighting Josesito Lopez? Shane Mosley who hadn't won since Jan 09? Cintron who just came off getting out boxed by Molina, Alfonso Gomez? Get real. He has one ok win in his resume and that is against Ryan Rhodes. Since then he hasn't had a credible win to render him having a "World Title". Remember he has the WBC Light Middleweight Title. A world title. Is a world champ suppose to be fighting opposition as weak as he is fighting?

                    • Let's be honest here DLH is not going to let Canelo fight Lara because Lara is high risk low reward. Isn't Kirkland going through legal issues? If Trout beats Cotto then why not? Angulo is coming off a bad KO loss and has had a lot of off time. Not too sure about K9 though. Am I satisfied with Canelo coming off a win against Lopez? If he was fighting Floyd or Sergio in May hell no. But sorry I just don't hold Cotto in the same regard as those two guys. The guy has had two bad KO losses and isn't exactly elite at 154 IMHO. Very good fighter but not elite sorry just how I see it. So we can just agree to disagree on that one.

You bring up the fact that he is the WBC light middleweight champion who has been fighting weak opposition. All the more better to fight Cotto. Look at it on the bright side if Alvarez loses like you think he does well then that obviously means he's not worthy of that title he wears. Kind of like Chavez Jr who eventually had to face Martinez. Of course unlike Jr. Canelo is not a lazy ass, smoke weed while training, living off my dad's name type fighter. Anyway it's obvious we're not going to change our opinions on the subject. Been fun debating but I'll stick with a late round TKO for Canelo and you stick with 4 rounds or less KO for Cotto. Either way I hope to see the fight happen soon.
