abril had a pretty easy night with him, all things considered. it's criminal how little that guy is talked about.
That's the point I'm trying to make. Yes, Rios might get a loss or two before having to move up again. But I doubt anyone except maybe Matthysse does it easy. And I think highly of Matthysse, many others wouldn't think of that as an easy fight for him.

It's unfair to Rios that some people write him off just because of the Abril fight, and it's unfair to Abril that the Rios should-have-been-a-win is only used to discredit Rios, with no proper credit going to Abril.

All this Warror fighting got Bam Bam slurring in his speech already. Have notice this before and it's only going to get worse for this young guy. Wouldn't hurt to stick and move sometimes.... Wat A Fite though.... FOY to me it was so far.

Is it fair that the public is being brainwashed to believe that rios is on the top shelf level and have to support him getting bigger fights? is it fair he is here because of blatant robbery? I called an abril victory the day the fight was signed. Rios was meant to be taken to the top one way or another, then put in with a live dog and taken out. If rios fights pac, I dont think we will see rios for a very long time after pac mutilates him. imo...

rios lacks skill and defense, finesse, generalship, everything it takes to be considered an elite level fighter. he is C level, C+ on his best day, and that still even depends on his opponent...

Casual fans can be very dumb. It's why they are casual, they don't follow the sport the way fans on a boxing forum do and don't care, they just want to see entertaining fights.

We disagree on Rios, that's fine. That's what makes NSB interesting before and after these fights happen.

I see your point but Rios is as valuable as Gatti was to HBO. If you have a great fighter that needs to gain exsposure (ie floyd), rios is the perfect fighter because he fights tough but will not be a real threat (other than a punchers chance) to beat a highly skilled fighter.

rios has tremendous value in that he is the perfect guy for your 2nd spot on a ppv or to headline wcb because he has a good base of support in cali.

I agree only to an extent. he should not be fighting top fighters, he should more of a test for prospects coming up to get to those top fighters. rios will never be any better than he is, and gatti was WAAAAY more valuable to hbo than rios. gatti you could appreciate fully, rios, if you appreciate him, youre appreciating his chin and his power, nothing else...

I agree. If a guy like alvarado could give you a battle, you aren't very good. I do think lyle's description of abril is unfair though. Abril is a top lightweight.

This author has major league penis envy. Anyone who think Lhan wouldn't get ko'd within four by Rios needs a CAT scan. Lamont Peterson and Danny Daddy's boy Garcia-- are you serious... He's going to lose to the corpse of Erik Morales on Saturday. Quit letting your sore devastated bung hole over Rios making fun of Roach inform your judgement of him as a fighter.

in today's market-chin and power are what fans want to see. When Gatti was doing his thing fans seemed to appreciate skill more than they do now, IMO.
