definitely avril schooled rios...but rios redeemed himself anew...and at the expense of a fighter i thought better than alvarado...the thing is rios is winning fight impressively and hopefully give more exciting fights in the future...

basically this. I dont see whats wrong with the article. it was an exciting fight, yes, but it does not come close to pure boxing. yea i get it rios is really fun to watch to the average layman who wants to enjoy fights, but most of us that like boxing, laugh at a clown like rios. his defense and offense are underrated some people say?! how do you even get away with saying that with a straight face. rios is a tomato can. if arum actually ever puts him in there with someone with skills, he will be beaten to a humiliating pulp. I hope they do make a pac-rios fight, so pac can show the kid what it means to be on top. 2009 pac or 2012 pac, or any pac, absolutely obliterates rios quite possibly causing permanent damage. pac is relishing a fight like this. a guy who has a fanbase and has some of the public blinded as to how good he really is, pac is lickin his lips hopin it gets made. Money fight, easy fight, why not??Originally posted by bobgyroRios as long as his brain holds up will be entertaining and fun to watch. But Rios without a jab or any boxing sense will soon be battered senseless and left clueless and wandering around shaking and broke. But Rios is fun to watch.Comment

go back and watch the fight again, lyle.
go try and be an ultra precise athlete when you're totally exhausted and you've been taking hits to the head and vital organs all night. it doesn't work that way.
these guys are not pernell whitaker.
go put some tapes of locche and benitez if you want to see guys slipping punches. shut your TV off quit complaining. what the hell did you expect?
rios got back to his corner after round one and said "i love this," to robert garcia. what's not excellent about that?
i hope they don't pay you actual money for these articles ,
there is no way in hell you do this for a living.
does anybody actually like this guy?
his articles should really come with a disclaimer. he wrote a piece about fighters he wants out of the hall of fame. it included joe frazier and bobby chacon. he's also written an article FOR the induction of sven ottke.
Lyle : Ottke in, Frazier out.Last edited by New England; 10-16-2012, 09:03 AM.Comment

"Me gusto." "I know you ****ing love it!" That part was awesome and shows Rios mentality in the ring.go back and watch the fight again, lyle.

The skill shown by Rios and Alvarado is being slightly underrated. They were doing a lot more than standing in front of each other and bar brawling. Inside fighting is as much a skill as circling the ring and counter punching, and both did a very good job of it.
Rios is a good fighter, whose chin and heart has taken him a long way. It will continue to take him further than people are willing to give him credit for.Comment

Also, how many fighters at 140 do people think have the style, size, and smarts to make an easy night's work of Rios? I guarantee the list isn't very long.Comment

until he slows down his chin will be too good to be an easy night for anybody. i think there are guys at 140 who can beat him (abril style
,) and at 147 he'll run the risk of being stopped if he's in with a puncher (of which there aren't many at 147.)
lyle doesn't get it
you need superhuman reflexes to put on an elite display of boxing. alvarado doesn't even see left hooks until they bounce off his his forehead.Comment

I can't think of one, I can see Lucas hitting him and putting him down quick though. Then again I though for sure he'd eventually feel Alvarado's power and the guy just smiles. He's going to be handful for anyone at this weight class. Lot of great fights he can make.Comment

lucas beats him
lamont beats him
swifty beats himComment
