well he did beat the #2 guy but I guess that's nothing.

All rankings are based on perception based on various factors. A fighter can jump a few slots if he gives an impressive performance versus a worthy opponent.

Despite his relative unprovenness, not a word but whatever, it's clear that talent wise he should be mentioned with the best in the division. I just can't rank him higher than guys with similar talent who have proven more at the moment.

This is how I see it. Now Rigo may very well be better than Mares and Moreno but he's going to have to prove it. Hypothetical matchups hold no weight.

Very reasonable. Would you agree with the idea that Rigo might skip a spot if he beats either Mares or Moreno and jumps to #2?

I agree. There are a few things to consider when ranking anyone, especially when certain guys haven't fought each other. In Rigo's case there's much more of that. There's his apparent talent vs. his resume vs. his previous accomplishments. It seems to me that most fans lean too heavily in one direction. It's just not that simple. All that said, I think it's pretty telling that nearly all the "experts" rate Guillermo somewhere in the top five at 122. (Usually at about #3.)

                  Ehh, Top 10. I just don't think he's proven.

moreno has 0 fights at 122
mares has 1 fight at 122 against morel

why would they be above rigo right now?

rigo has beaten 2 top 10 fighters(#2 #6), doesn't sound that good until...

vasquez beat 0 top 10 fighters
                    matheluba beat 1 top 10(#5)
even the greatest of all time nishioka only beat 2 top 10 fighters(#8, #10)

exactly Mares is not the best but hes fought the best n has won very tough fights, i think Mares has the better resume of all, Rigon has better skills but until he gets in the ring we better opposition we wont, n its not that his fault its just Top Rank handily him smartly

                      actions speak louder then words

if Rigon beats Moreno or Mares he will tie number 1 spot with Donaire

the winner of Mares vs Moreno take the number 1 or tie it with Donaire
