More power to Ortiz if that's who he decides to go with. I honestly think that Sr. spends more time talking and bragging about what he can still do at his age than what he actually teaches boxers now days. Not sure if Golden Boy really recommended Sr, but there are other trainers out there that would be good for Ortiz. I always wondered why Oscar parted ways with long time trainer and mentor Robert Alcazar.

i don't mind it. Here's my reasoning:
- ORtiz is intrinsically motivated when it comes to putting in the work at training. He isn't the type of guy who needsa a trainer on his ass to motivate him to put in the physical work required. This fits well with Sr who isn't known to babysit fighters to train/run, and do the required fitness work. This only leaves Sr to teach him some fundamental offensive and defensive stuff, which with Vic's work ethic he may be able to apply. I don't see how he could do much better than Sr TBH. Who else is there?Comment

I wouldn't say he has a glass jaw.. He's just a quitter.. A really really big quitter!this is purely a business decision for dela hoya. he gets word out that one of his fighters, ortiz, is on a comeback and will be trained by the same person who was also dela hoya's second back then, mayweather, sr. he knows first hand what mayweather, sr. has to offer and what one of his assets, ortiz, so badly needs, defense to protect that glass of chin his. after all, dela hoya does have some sense to protect his investment.Comment

That's nonsense. Boxing is this guy's entire life -- do not ever for one second think he does not take it extremely seriously! LOL. Just cause Mayweather Sr. may talk or brag in interviews (which he doesn't do that often), does not mean in any way, shape, or form that he doesn't work hard in the gym. You might as well try to say the same thing about his son -- who arguably has the craziest work ethic of all the boxers today. You think Mayweather Sr didn't influence his son's extreme work ethic? You forget Mayweather Sr. led Chad Dawson to his first world championship too? You think Mayweather Sr is in great physical shape just for himself and not because he's training fighters? Better physical shape than ****iim Richardson, Freddie Roach, Emmanuel Steward, etc.More power to Ortiz if that's who he decides to go with.
