These are professional boxers. Not dudes on a corner in the hood.

You don't make a business deal with someone simply because he "disses you hard".

      • Cotto actually does damn good against Boxers. Martinez would be no different. And at 154 considering Im not sure if hed be drained.

Right now my pick is Cotto by KO. Youd think Martinez beat an ATG the way people are hyping him up. To this day Cotto would be the best fighter he has ever fought. Cotto would cut that ring clean off and take his head off. All that running fairy shyt woudnt work with Cotto.

        Cotto by KO.

          • Martinez would either win by UD or KO. I have to see how Cotto looks against Trout to decide which one of those two outcomes it would be. Thing is Cotto would still get his shots in and make Sergio bleed a little. Even when he loses Cotto always manages to inflict some damage.

              Now shut the fuck!!

Margarito who folded the iMartinez in half 100 years ago > Killed the undefeated champion Cotto

and triangle theory doesn't work for me

              Martinez now beats Cotto , Pacquiao , Alvarez , Mayweather , ... and any boxer < 160

Martinez is the good face of boxing

I like this right here. So glad Martinez is thinking about Martinez and not letting the Arum gang decide what he is gonna do. I'd rather see Martinez/Cotto or Martinez/Floyd than a rematch right now. Down the line if Jr. gets a win or two, then I'd be more supportive.

-Against Pavlik, Martinez weighed 159.5, and rehydrated up to 167
-Against P.Will the 2nd time, he weighed 157.5 and rehydrated up to 168
-Against Dzinziruk, he weighed 158.8 and rehydrated up to 170
-Against Barker, he weighed 158 and rehydrated up to 165
-Against Macklin, he weighed 157.5 and didn't weigh unofficially
-Against Chavez, he weighed 159 and rehydrated to 167

So, the #'s say that he'd have a bit of trouble making the weight. Would it be as bad as Dawson? probably not. I think Sergio's level of determination would allow him to make the weight safely. Cotto would be his biggest fight by far and Sergio seems to do well under pressure. I think it's a match-up worth considering.
                  thanks for posting

But Canelo is their new up and coming guy and cotto is on the way out and without a long term contract with them. I would still be surprised because of the risk of canelo loosing his 0 and ruining a floyd fight.

Martinez-Floyd is the better fight, but not from GBP's perspective.
Do you think their plan is to let Alvarez get one shameless loss against Floyd before letting the young Canelo take on all the "real" competition?

Even getting beat by Floyd can give Canelo's name the momentum to bring into future fights against 154 pounders.

Yep, all signs point towards Cotto-Canelo next year for me. They been talking about it plus Cotto was ringside at Saul's last fight. Another branch in the Rico vs Mexico tree.

Based on their last fights I think its still risky and they have to be thinking that too. If they had more confidence in canelo they wouldnt be giving him softball fights still.

Maybe they will give him angulo or ortiz but those guys have recent losses. They could still build it up though and they are low risk.
I can't see Floyd bothering to wait that long if Saul won't be ready for him until after 2013. Floyd has two fights left imo.

I got Cotto doing that fight in May.

I'm a huge Cotto fan, but bro, you're delusional.

Keep it real. Martinez has a very high probability of murking Cotto.

He's just bigger, stronger, and with better movement...

yea if there ever was a "people's champ", Martinez would be it. He plays the good guy role but doesn't come off as phony but more importantly speaks up if he has to
