But a 160 Roy and a 175 Roy drops a lot more fights.
168 was the division he was unstoppable in. Up or Down of 168 and there would have been numerous h2h issues.

I think he's the best Super Middleweight the world has seen to this point.
I think Ward has plenty of time to surpass him though. Resume wise at least.
Roy's level of athleticism was unbelievable.

Prime RJJ would be an enigma to most throughout history. Of his contemporaries, I can only see Micheal Nunn have a decent shot. Some might say that Nigel Benn would have a punchers chance, but in reality he wouldn't put a glove on Roy.
Of fighters close to his own era I'd pick Michael Spinks to beat him. I know he was fighting at 175, but that was in the days of same-day weigh-ins. Today he would fight at 168 in his prime.
Thomas Hearns would have a good shot, but 168 was never his best weight.
Going further back Robinson, Charles, Moore should be favoured. Saad would be a longshot.
These are fighters I can think off straight off the bat. There are others but given the fact that you have to look for the very best to find someone with a chance shows how good Jones was or at least perceived and it is a damn shame he didn't seek out more challenges.

mccllelan would have a good chance, the power, speed and precision but more than anythign the jab of mcclellan would give roy problems imo. i dont think he could take away geralds offense by boxing at long range, that jab would find its mark and if a single solid right hand lands behind it roy would be knocked spark out. he would have to move in and out and could get caught doing either, roy would have to be at his best to beat gerald.
hearns moved up all the way to 175 before dropping down to 160 where he was knocked out by hagler and lost much of his punch resistance. before that he had a very good chin, not saying jones couldnt hurt him but hearns could hurt him worse. that along with the same reasons that make mcclellan a bad matchup for roy would make hearns a very bad matchup for roy too. in fact i would favor hearns. keep in mind hearns was never outboxed by anyone, not SRL, not benitez not hill. nobody. hes a very bad style for roy to fight.
nunn would be my #1 pick to beat roy though. i dont have to name specifics, everything about him is a straight up nightmare for roy. calzaghe, benn and eubank would stand little to no chance. calzaghe in particular, i dont see anything he does that would give roy the slightest problem in his prime. ppl talk about roy fighting all these c class fighters in his prime, had calzaghe been willing to fight roy back then he would fall into the same category today.
