I bet it bro. You do know who Martinez wants. That's why you want him to go & get brutally destroyed by the best fighter in the world. Andre Ward in his weight class.

Chad wouldn't be humiliated at 175 like he was last night but he'd still be beaten. Ward is too tough, too active, too mentally strong to be beaten by this current version of Chad. The one who fought Harding and Adamek would have a chance but he's been long gone.

Well he had Floyd Sr in his corner for the Adamek fight and most of 2007, look at the results. Floyd Sr turned Dawson into a multidimensional boxer, he taught Dawson lateral movement, defense and how to throw the straight left. It's no coincidence that his skills degraded when he left Floyd Sr. What's worse is that was Dawson constantly switching trainers, and his skills eroded year after year. Steward wasn't bad though, Dawson should have stayed with him.

Dawson lost because Ward simply outclassed him.. his movement was amazing and Ward at his best... is hardly possible to hit flush.

Thats my take. I hope you don't Red K me for having a different opinion like some other tards on this site. I think your argument is well argued, I just disagree
Yeah Dawson deserves a ton of credit for not making any excuses post fight.

I think the weight affected Dawson's chin, but style wise I think its clear Ward would beat him at a higher weight. Dawson had no answer for those odd angles and lead left hook of Wards.

              As a neutral

Ward would win even at 175, he is a class above, he would most likely win a decision by 3-4 points

Dawson was a freaking skeleton, the weight loss affected his sharpness, punch resistance and power

Ward looked 100 percent in that ring, his conditioning looked superb, Dawson looked awful

This is Dawsons fault, he got too arrogant, he believed in his own hype and thought he could go down and dominate ward

                Do the math.
I don't wanna take anything away from Ward cause he is a very good technician but that wasn't the real Chad Dawson. We will never know how much the weight troubled Dawson cause he won't admit it, but to me Dawson looked DEAD AT THE WEIGHT. We also heard before the fight that Dawson got knocked out in sparring - something we also never heard before.
Let's be honest: When did Andre Ward knock out a top opponent?? - Froch, Abraham, Allan Green went all the distance. The Kessler-Ward fight was stopped cause of Ward's headbutts. And now you wanna tell me Ward can hurt a Light Heavyweight seemingly easily and bad like that??
Chad Dawson isn't known to have a bad chin.
As far as I'm concerned, this fight only would have done something for Ward's legacy if it would have happened at a catchweight or at light heavyweight.
Great win for Ward- yes. But a big big shadow stays.
If thats the case its his own fault. Dawson didnt have an answer for wards unrelenting style and the left hook/jab all night. Ward was truly a master in there and should move up in the p4p rankings Imo. From 160 to 175 hes got it on lock.

Guess he'll think about that next time he offers to go down to 168. Ward did what he was supposed to do. Props to him.

I agree. The truth is that while Dawson may have fought at 168 BEFORE in his career, he's been accustomed to being a light heavyweight and he's older now which means that his metabolism is slowing. So while he may have felt in great shape (and probably was if he were a distance runner or something to that effect) his body lacked sufficient resistance. Oh well, he signed the contract. And who knows? Maybe this brings out a more aggressive side to Ward in the future?

He was clearly drained, but again, its his damn fault. He lost a fan last night, and he shouldnt have dissapointed like that. Besides the weight drain issue, he is the most passionless fighter ive ever seen. He dont have that dog in em.
