It's not guaranteed it was such a factor. Sounds more like an excuse to me. The guy said he was fine and looked fine in the beginning until he started taking accumulated damage. Then everyone wants to use that EXCUSE. Well you know what to bad. Daswson would have lost at any weight. Ward nullified his style and beat him to the punch with footwork speed and determination. Maybe Dawson would have survived a couple more rounds at 178 but he sure as hell wouldn't have won the fight. So enough with the excuses for once.
Dawson told Smoger "Get me the F outta here"

ocorrales vs floyd.... perfect example. thats why people LOVED corrales.
dawson has a track record for "checking out" mentally, or not pushing hard enough.... hence the disappointment. the guy is arguably one of the most talented boxers today... he just never pushed hard enough. he should be undefeated with his talent level.

I never called Dawson a coward. I never said anything about being able to do better.
It's a ****** argument. Comparing a professional fighter that made 600k to fight last night to fans watching at home is beyond ******ed. You compare Chad Dawson to other professional fighters, since he is one.Comment

And that's my thing. He signs up for a 12 round prizefight and gets paid over $600k, but he should be able to walk away when **** gets tough in there? He is paid to take punches, what's with the arguments that it's okay to quit to avoid injury? This is boxing, injury frequently comes with the job. But the main issue here is there was no injury to speak of, he was just being bested by his opponent. If the ref or corner didn't think it was bad enough to stop it, it sucks to see the fighter make that decision period. If you can't see that, I don't know why you ever were attracted to this sport. The sweet science can get downright ugly. Chad's pay should be docked in reality.
Have you ever stepped into the ring? Going 10 ounds on mitts and on the bags without getting hit is unbelivably exhausting enough in itself.. Its like running a marathon. The majority of people probably cant even go past 5. Now add getting hit, which feels like your brain and skull being torn apart and having a 2 inch gash above your eye and being so drained you can hardly stand and you're fighting the S.O.G
Getting paid doesnt justify acting like a fool. Winning does, but chad was not winning that nightLast edited by DARKSEID; 09-09-2012, 12:14 PM.Comment

It's still hard to watch Ward with all that holding and ramming crap. As long as he is allowed to do that I'll never like his fights. However, Chad never took the initiative to get off first....setup the left uppercut with the jab. Seems like you gotta keep a forearm on Ward's throat to cut out some of those cheating ass tactics.Comment

im talkin good ole amurican football. try laying down in full pads and just rolling up and down the 100 yard field for 2 straight hours. entire team puking at least 3 times each. this was before all the new nancy sht about dehydration. Water is for cowards. Water makes you weak. Water is for washing blood off that uniform and you don't get no blood on my uniform, boy you must be outside your mind! We are going to do up-downs, until Blue is no longer tired, and thirsty!!! lol good times. still not the same as draining your body for a fight.Comment

Refereees aren't doctors. Ask Margaritos right eye. Just because someone is getting paid doesnt mean they should throw their life and future away.

Chad Dawson simply had no options, he couldn't get on his bike because his tank was empty he couldn't tie Ward up because Ward is a beast on the inside.Comment
