Joe fought five former world champions before he fought Lacy. They were all ranked in Rings top ten in the SM division when he fought them. Just a thought, you have just over 11,000 post on the forum and I'd bet good money that if someone checked 10,000 of them would be about Calzaghe.

In my very humble opinion, this should move Ward to the top of the p4p list bc Dawson was a much bigger challenge and much scarier than Timothy Bradley or Miguel Cotto.

4 Different weight classes before Cotto! p4p #2

Retained WBO Welterweight title. @ 147! (Clottey)

5 different legit weight classes buddy. P4P!
The titles in multiple weight classes is a pointless debate. Ray Robinson started his career around 130. If not for a heat stroke, he would have won the light heavy title. Henry Armstrong held the feather, light, and welterweight titles simultaneously. These guys fought in eras with 8 divisions and one title per. Imagine if they had fought in an era with 17 watered down divisions and 5 recognized world titles per. Its not an exaggeration to say they would have won titles in 10+ divisions. Super middleweight has been one of the deepest divisions in boxing the last couple years and Ward cleaned it out. To me, that's a lot more impressive than the seek out the worst beltholder in a division, beat him, and move on routine Pac has been on.

True dat! And I believe that even if Martinez were to knock out Jr., he will call out Mayweather and there will be absolutely no mention whatsoever of Ward.

Exactlt why does Ward need to fight middleweights when he's been a career super middle?

Ray Robinson is from a different time and era, has nothing to do with the way boxing is today in 2012-2013. now there basically a weight class every 5 to 7 pounds. means everthing!

Because that's what it takes to be p4p in 2012. Middleweights are Middleweights. Direll was in the super 6 just like Ward was..

former being the key word. if they were so good why weren't they current world champs? calzaghe knew they were on the slide and that's when he decided to fight them. roy jones was a former light heavy champ so i guess that's another great calzaghe victory?

but i got to say cotto and bradley were seemingly on top of their games, both mentally and physically during their respective challenges. the dawson tonight, well i would say didnt looked both. but not to take anything away from ward, guy fought great. imo, even @ 175 he'd beat dawson.
