Haven't seen iut yet, did the weight affect Dawson?? Seems he's been hit by much bigger punchers before and responded better. Chad seems to have lost the hunger he once had.....very very sad.

Ward just uses every ounce of talent he has better than anybody in the sport. Hes not as physically talented as FMJ but hes so mentally strong and determined that i put him on that level. My top 10 p4p 1.FMJ 2.Pac 3.Ward 4.JMM 5.Sergio 6.Donaire 7,8 Klitchkos 9. Bradley 10. Take your pick Cotto, Froch, Dawson, Mares theres a couple more options out there.

This moves Ward up the rankings. Dirrell vs Ward is the next logical step once Andre gets some fights into him.

Weigh-ins don't give you as much as being in the ring and I saw in the first round his legs were gone. Watching him with no legs reminded me of how Morales looked against Pac the third fight, how Chris Byrd looked against George, weak legs. But most people won't see that because they know nothing about body language and boxers body react to losing weight. Great fight by Ward, I wish it would have been at 175. Chad has been hit by harder punchers and responded better, Ward isn't a puncher so that pretty much tells you there. Again, great fight by Ward he did a marvelous job with what he had in front of him. But I'd like to see it at 175

So... Miranda and him trained together? >__>...seems about right.
Seriously though, impressed with Ward and just disappointed in Dawson. A lot of people gave him crap and said he was overrated for beating an old Bernard... And their reasoning just seems so spot on right about now. Andre Ward was amazing though. Nobody will beat him at 168. Just too smart.
On a side note, the weight had to have effected him a lot. No way he survives the hits he took at his weight class and comes down and makes Ward look like the 168 version of Matthysse lol. Still....he quit...and landed 29 punches? In that many rounds? Thats embarassingLast edited by NearHypnos; 09-08-2012, 11:07 PM.

Great performance by Ward. He did what he had to do and put on a career defining performance. That said, knowing what I know about both fighters and the circumstances surrounding this fight. Its hard for me not to think weight drain was an issue here. Bear with me. Ward is a fighter that came in with a slightly higher than 50% KO ratio. Dawson was dropped some early in his career but has never been chinny and has stood in and taken shots by bigger punchers than Ward. The manner in which Ward won leads me to believe that weight drain was an issue. Dawson was doing well before the first KD. And the difference in the fight is that Dawson was completely unable to deal with Ward's power. And once it was established that he couldn't deal with Ward's power, the fight became a lot easier for the super middleweight champ. Now I know it will be said that Dawson looked healthy at the weigh-in and rehydrated all the way up to 185, which is about what he would have weighed for a light heavy fight. But even at that, I have a hard time believing that a guy with a solid chin all of a sudden can't take punches when he's in the ring with a naturally much smaller guy that isn't much of a puncher against guys his own size.
