I personally think that Toney is maybe only 2nd to Mayweather as the greatest defensive fighter I've ever seen, especially when he was a middleweight and in shape. I used to watch vhs tapes in slow-mo just to see how small of a movement and how little effort he would expend to get away from shots. Considering his great talent, if anyone hates him it's because he has such a talent and would let it fade all over some gravy and wings. I remember hating him, watching him fight on FOX, all fat and sloppy, just content to make the bums he was fighting miss and not countering and never pushing the action. The Jirov fight turned him around though and now hopefully he can capitalize on a weak hw division to win the most valuable prize in sports.
