Don't just watch his KO highlights on youtube, watch the full fights. He was no doubt slick.
Ive seen all of his recorded fights. Robinson had two forms of defense, his feet, and his offense. He relied heavily on his chin, and his fantastic control of range to do what he did, much as Arguello did. To say that he grandfathered the style is asinine. Jersey Joe Walcott, Archie Moore, Willie Pep and the famed trainer Georgie Benton are all much better prototypes for the styles that we saw from them.

Show me where he is slick.

Now look at Georgie Benton... Who looks more like Floyd? Georgie Benton retired only 5 years after SRR.

You over estimate the influence that fighters have on other fighters. At the end of the day, it is their trainers that teach them how to fight, not other fighters.

Mayweather offered Winky Wright a 50/50 split and Winky Wright priced himself out and walked away.

LMAO Floyd absolutely beats Alexis Arguello at 130. Floyd had top level boxing ability, KO power in each hand, otherworldly reflexes and top level defene to boot. Best 130 pounder EVER. Floyd is also top 3 at 140 based on ability, too bad he can't add that 140 resume to it as well.

You make good points. Ray Robinson wasn't the slickest of the slick, but I wouldn't say he wasn't slick at all. He was definitely a slippery fighter was a solid defense.

He loved to **** though, he was a fighter. He would happily stand and trade and go toe to toe when I had to.

And you're right, there's a lot of fighters who are a lot slicker than Ray Robinson.

Yeah, look at their movement. Ray Robinson used angles, and great foot movement. He also used a style that many slick fighters use, the lunge in left hook, ala Floyd/Roy/Ali/Shane/SRL. He figured out, that you can use your feet and completely keep the fight at your pace. Watch the Robinson/Lamotta fight, he dissected a plodding brawler. Your trying to compare Ray Rob to James Toney, but in reality, without Ray Rob, there wouldnt be Floyd/Ali/SRL/Jones. Just like if their was no Dr. J, theirs no MJ.
