Canelo is a good fighter. There is no denying from watching him fight that he has talent, but if the plan for him was to build him up by letting him fight smaller guys, then he NEVER should've gotten a chance to fight for a title yet...even if it was a vacant belt.

I want to like Canelo and I think it would be good for the sport if he became a big star, but this fight is just ridiculous. There were so many guys in his own division that he could've fought and gotten way more credit for beating than this. Trout, Bundrage, Lara, Martirosyan, Molina....why in the hell isn't he fighting any of them?

If he can fight and beat at least one of those guys mentioned - preferably a couple of them - and then maybe get a fight and beat Cotto, THEN, and only then should he even be considered for a potential Mayweather opponent.

When Ortiz was going to fight Canelo people on Boxing Scene were split on who would win. Lopez just TKOed Ortiz. If Canelo can beat Lopez with ease I would think that would indicate that Canelo is better than Ortiz. Lopez is smaller than Canelo but he is a game tough fighter with fast hands and power in both of them. I'll bet when this fight gets closer some guys on here will pick him to beat Canelo. I think Canelo will KO him in 6 rounds or less.

Josesito is not a bum, but the weight difference is too much. 2 weight classes is a lot, I was expecting at least a fight with a decent fighter in his own weight class (No, old Mosley and old Cintron are not decent fighters, they were completely shot)

I bet you wouldn't care if he fought Vic Darchinyan... you'd probably praise Canelo for taking on a fighter that doesn't quit and who's aggressive.

he has plenty of time to fight these guys as they have plenty of time to build there names up

I would've liked to have seen him unify against either Bundrage or Trout too, but even Carlos Molina would've been a good choice. Molina has a draw against Lara, a BS loss to Kirkland, and most importantly...he's a 154 lb. fighter!

The Ghost is arguably an elite talent though who is big guy & will be fighting a guy very small at the weight.
It wasn't so many years ago the small framed Lopez was at 135 & 130 before that.

Guerrero will not be giving up a 15+ lb weight advantage against a foe twice as experienced as himself where Lopez will.

Please stop trying to justify this horrific mismatch.
A barely top 10 140lb fighter against an arguably elite, massive 154lb fighter who will be 165-170 fight night, please, its an absolute disgraceful fight.
