I'm another of those that were sweating Manny's health leading up to the fight and the night before it happened it was a gigantic win, but careers are judged in hindsight. So in an historic sense, not that great. I've always thought Pac's best win was his demolition of a prime Marco Antonio Barrera.
How great of a win was Pac over Hoya?

In terms of boxing history it is a meaningless garbage win, but in business terms it opened up a huge market to exploit and is easily one of the biggest upsets in history in terms of superstars.Comment

!Originally posted by EinstienI just watched it again and was thinking, Hoya looked like crap. The weight manipulation along with his age (plus Manny on the rise) did him in.
I mean Hoya lost 4 of his last 7 fights ( and one of those fights he "won" was Sturm) So he really lost 5 of his last 7 fights. His real wins.... Forbes and Mayorga.
His last 9 fights leading up to the Pac fight he weighed between 150 to 160. Before that 12 fights at 147 going back to 1997( he fought Pac in 2008).
For those who love Pac ( very nice) but reality is that win was "a name" more than the real Hoya.
de la hoya did a line of coke in the dressing room before the fight that's how good it was....

Rustico Torrecampo and Medgoen Singsurat say hello!Prime de la hoya doesn't murder ****, no one murders Pacquiao - not Barrera, not Cotto, not Hatton, not Margarito, not Morales, not Bradley, not Mosley, not Marquez and not Mayweather either.
You're talking about a fighter with a granite chin, lightning handspeed and bone-breaking power.
At most he can be out-pointed but never destroyed and definitely not by a cheesestain like de la hoya.Comment
