part of boxing is making in fight adjustments & that is what separates the greats from the rest. being able to make adjustments & having a plan B & C when things are not working....lennox lewis was a master at this as is floyd mayweather.excellent observation TS...

Garcia did a great job timing Khan's shots and countering with big shots of his own, even though most of his work was ignored by Lampley. You could see him leaning to his left and preparing his beg left hook counter.Comment

Garcia's dad is not a good trainer, at least not to his son.
In the second round he sounded like he was panicking when he was talking to him, like he couldnt take his son being beaten out there. I also didnt hear any real instructions to his son.Comment

I hate the term "lucky punch".Great post, and i completely agree. I mentioned before that after the first round I was hella frustrated with Danny. He was standing mid-range and getting picked apart by Amir.
That second round looked a lot different and u can definitely see Danny beginning to identify and loop around that right hand a lot more effectively. Danny isn't the dim-witted brawler some are tryna paint him on here to be. He's just not athletically-gifted, so he works with what he has. He fought a smart fight, adjusted and won.
Those who feel it was a "lucky punch" need to go back and re watch that fight. There are no lucky punches in boxing, every punch is thrown with one intention: and that is to land.
This is Boxing, the aim of the game is to land a punch. Nothing about landing a good shot is "lucky".Comment

I forgot what I was going to post when I saw your sig lol
What a beautiful shot that Danny landed, the kid is a sniper in that ring.Comment

Notice how Garcia doesn't jump on Khan right away but lets him fall to the canvas peacefully. He knew what he was doing, timed that shot real nice.Comment

He took his opportunity but I wouldn't say it took a tremendous amount of ring IQ to pull it off. I feel that boxing fans get caught between sucking a fighter off and steam rolling the over. If Garcia displayed great ring IQ then it is harsh to speak about the holes in Khan's defense and Khan's lack of boxing IQ.
Fact of the matter is Khan fought like a moron. Freddie Roach trains him like a machine in that he just punches he doesn't think, when my Dad looked at his mitwork he made note of the fact that Freddie just keeps his hand in one position saying that because of that Khan is repetitive and does not pick his shots depending on the moment. He was spot on, there was no need for him to throw that right hand prior to getting clocked with the left but he is so hell bent on throwing flurries that the fact that the punch had no change of landing or even doing much damage did not occur to him.Comment
