I don't think either guy is really a cross over star. Ward is a great boxer but lacks the fire power to really excite the general public, the same can be said of Dawson.

but you know what I don't care. I'd like to see HBO do more of this. cater to the fans, have fights the fans want to see and not nuthug promoters. HBO should do more of it.

if HBO or ESPN ever had something like Ringside or Bunce's boxing hour, it'd be too much. I like Berstien and Farhood but Showtime boxing is just turning into GBP TV.

Man I can't wait for this fight. Finally able to see Ward live, and fighting Dawson my other top fighter to boot. It's gonna be epic.

Good to see HBO investing in the current talent pool. There is going to come a day when Floyd, Manny, Cotto and Marquez are retired or fighting past their prime.

24/7: Road to Ward/Dawson and 24/7 Chavez Jr./Martinez - Part 1 on August 25th. Hopefully the Gennady Golovkin fight as well.

Exactly. We're in a transitional phase right now where the big stars of today are finally becoming the greats of yesterday. The stars of tomorrow are being groomed to take the thrones.

This fight does deserve ppv treatment. Lets be honest here, when was the last time the truly 2 best fighters both young & prime separated by just a weight class actually fought??

If people really open their eyes they'd see. The pfp #1 & #2 fighters both fight at 147 & have never fought. IMO Ward is the real pfp king & now he's fighting the best light heavyweight.

Major credit to Dawson for coming to Wards back yard. I really can't see a loser here. Not for them, not for the fans. This is boxing as a sport. Not the business, this is the sport representing. This is what I love.

The business of boxing gave us no Floyd-Pacman. The sport of boxing is giving us Ward-Dawson, what!!??

I had no idea that you had Ward as your pfp #1.

So they pick two of the most boring fighters in the world to showcase? Genius!
