Fair enough...
I have no problem with it being on HBO or televised for that matter at all. It's a competitive fight with two P4P fighters. I'm not debating that it shouldn't be on the network altogether.Once again, your point is irrelevant. It's not just about what kind of fight happens inside the ring. It's about the skill level of the boxers, it's about where they're ranked in their divisions. It's about two fighters that have practically cleaned out their divisions facing each other. Ward is THE consensus best SMW in the world. Dawson, is THE consensus best LHW in the world. They both hold The Ring Championship in their divisions. A fight of THIS magnitude, at THIS level deserves to be on NONE other then HBO. NO ifs, ands, or buts about it, period.
Think you missed my point. From a business perspective, I'm saying it isn't a smart move by HBO to give this fight a PPV treatment. Although it's competitive, I don't think it's going to bring a lot of fans and attention to the sport. We don't know what kind of fight will happen exactly, until they fight. Which, um, is the whole point of this fight happening. IF you can't appreciate this fight, then you might as well call yourself a causal fan. I'm not saying you should be jumping up and down for joy. But, you should naturally be able to appreciate a fight of this magnitude. PeriodComment

I see people saying its a fight with two young P4P blah, blah, blah ****. These guys can't draw d*ck it's that simple, they can have it on HBO but no one is going to buy it 24/7 or not. I won't be getting it for a few reasons:
1. They are boring, sorry. Sure they are both good fighters but seriously why am I going to pay $65 to be bored ****less?
2. No one knows who these guys are, it's that simple. Ward hasn't even fought on PPV and only about 20 million people even have Showtime. How many of these even watched the Ward fights which... WERE BORING. He made mabe 200,00 fans if that and maybe 10% will buy this fight.
3. PPV should be for fights that will make HBO money, losing money will not help them in anyway. Sure, having it on HBO will not make them money but it brings people more exposure whom both these guys need, ESPECIALLY Ward. Dawson is boring to hell to watch which does not help this in anyway shape or form.
4. They've had 2 days for fights on regular HBO why not have a single 24/7 or countdown show for a free show? Again if it works out well you'll make money in the long run putting them on PPV too early is a mistake IMO. It will FLOP and by that I mean less than 200k buys. Dumb move by HBO... Chavez/Martinez is PPV worthy because at least one guy will draw in a crowd and it will be a good fight. This... hopefully it's in Oakland if not we're looking at Bradley/Alexander attendance and horrible PPV buys.Comment
