co- sing with this guyHa ha!!
Wasn't there a thread a few weeks ago of a Canelo fan asking Cotto fans if Canelo would get credit for beating Mayorga, since Cotto did the same and got credit for it?
Lol idc this is a great fight, even better if it's on free TV.
And let's get real here, this is a retirement fight for Mayorga, one last big payday.Comment

It really is. But that's because they are fans of one fighter and not the sport. If Canelo fights a grocery cashier they would be ok with it. "He's still young" is what they would say. They would rather see that opposed to an opponent seen as a threat.Bruh, you can listen to Mayorga talk all you want when he's fighting Steve Thompson (random name). But why waste a fight with Canelo, just to hear Mayorga talk? Instead of watching the fight, let's just make the press conference a PPV since that's all you're interested in anyway.... These fans on NSB are incredible.
Then you want to see Canelo-Rodriguez this summer???? Why do you want to see the loser of Rod-Trout get the title shot????
This is incredible.
As for Mayorga, his talk means nothing if he's not backing it up. I don't see how anybody can sit here and get excited about anything Mayorga's overrated ass does.Last edited by joseph5620; 07-07-2012, 02:48 PM.Comment

Former two division champion Ricardo Mayorga (29-8-1, 23KOs) appeared on television network Channel 12 in Nicaragua and claims to be the selected opponent of WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (40-0-1, 29KOs) on the 15th of September at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

They'll be ok with anything thrown at them and just use the "boxing is a business" excuse to make sense of it.It really is. But that's because they are fans of one fighter and not the sport. It's really the Twilight Zone in these parts where nothing makes sense.
When I see stuff likes this, it confirms that they don't have faith in Canelo and are scared for him. I remember being one of the biggest fans of Roy. Roy had like 20 belts at the same damn time because he cleaned out his division and other divisions. Not once was I like "please Roy, don't fight this guy because it doesn't make business sense" lol.Comment

I wouldn't mind that viewpoint if these people were consistent about it. If boxing is a business for Alvarez, it should be a business for everyone else too. They'll be ok with anything thrown at them and just use the "boxing is a business" excuse to make sense of it.

Mayorga being "good business" is laughable though. It's just a name to put on the resume, just like Mosley. What a crap champion Alvarez is. How do you go from trying to make fights with Paul Williams and James Kirkland to Ricardo f***ing Mayorga?Comment

"Just one freaking fight"? Excuse me but this guy has been fighting shot and old ass fighters since his US debut. I should go boxrec him and see who he fought in Mexico, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same ****.
Funny thing is, half of these guys claiming they can't wait to hear Mayorga talk **** or whatnot, probably don't even know Spanish. **** ain't as funny after it's translated. It really is. Oscar-Mayorga was on a local sports channel where I live this week. Both looked so bad. And that was 7 or 8 years ago.Comment
