Props for what? He actually broke his contract and fucked up, I don't think that's a reason to congratulate him.

I'm still happy for him though, he has great talent and could do some good things if he starts to get big fights soon.

He didn't buy his contract actually, at least not with his money. Gamboa might have money, but he was most likely financed by Mayweather Jr and Oscar De La Hoya.

Gamboa needs a fight A.S.A.P. before he gets rusty. It's been almost a year since he whipped Broner's daddy (Ponce de Leon)

Top Rank wasn't doing much with him but I don't know why everyone is sold GBP would. They have Lara and Moreno and are doing nothing to build them into foes for their stars.
Gamboa's age has always been an issue whenever considering his ultimate potential. Therefore, Yuri may indeed never have time to become a big draw. As for his defense, it's not terrible. The guy is offensive-minded; that'll never change. But the "bad 'D'" knock is old and overstated.

You make a good point about going from TR to GBP. But who can blame Oscar for not wanting to put his own "Golden Boy" in with the likes of Lara?

They don't seem to want to put Lara in with anyone, much less Alvarez.

That's true; but you did say, "stars." Who else does GBP promote that can be labeled as such?

I was referring to Mares-Moreno. At the lower weights, Mares would qualify.

Canelo, Khan, Ortiz, Mares, all can be considered their own star

Gamboa will probably sign with GBP. Mayweather promotions? Um are they really that established that gamboa would sign there? GBP is the next premiere promotional company.
