Williams left the Welterweight division before Pac got there, Martinez always been way too big.

If Williams was campaigning at 147 right now then Pac should have fought him too, Williams @ 147 and Floyd @ 147 overlapped for a few years.

he would still have haters but would'nt be as much as right now...and the hate would'nt be justified if he did'nt duck the best fights people wanted to see...he would have more respect and love now if (he challneged himself more) than hate, instead of the other way around...

The duck stuff started when he left TR so its all BS. the people who hate floyd hate him becuase of his attitude outside the ring. Same stuff happened with Jack Johnson, ALi, RJJ, Tyson.

Look at Paclan's list. Cotto, mosley, manny all refused to fight when they were prime. Winky was 2 weight classes above. Kosta lost to Hatton. Sergio is just a new name the last 2 years. SO this comes down to Margs and Pwill.

ANd then we apply the formula. PWill is tall and can jab so he'd beat floyd. Doesn't matter he drops his hands or that QUintana beat him. Then Margs is a pressure fighter and floyd doesn't like pressure fighters look at Castillo 1, he lost. Doesn't matter he is much faster than Marg or that Marg lost to Daniel Santos.

i dont think any boxing fan feels floyd needs to prove his greatness... most real fans respect and acknowledge his talents. but to even compare him to the likes of the greats from the past, is a bit much. he is one of the greatest of his generation no doubt, but we cant ignore how he avoided some serious and career defining fights.

IMO, if he fought:
• prime cotto @ 147
• prime margs @ 147
• prime p-will @ 147
• shane @ 147

basically, he bailed on HIS division when it was HOT. thats why most fans are left with a bad taste in their mouths. floyd was the p4p champ and reigning WW king... but when the division started getting stacked, he retired and let the division sort itself out... letting a "midget" move up and clean up and TAKE his spot. pac got asterisks too... but thats another topic.

IMO, if he unified and defended the WW titles, i wouldve given him CRAAAZY respect. imagine if floyd defended/unified titles against the names i listed above??? that would be a great title reign, throw in some mandatories to pad his record... and he wouldve easily ****blocked pac from gaining recognition.

Mayweather took less risky fights right and is a dodger but is the only fighter in this era to have fought and beat 10 world champions in his last ten fights...ROFL some of you guys are unbelieveable

Almost every big fight you have ever seen has been "picked" by the bigger draw or the promoter to maximize profit.
