IMO, Froch is a greater fighter than Calzaghe.

I don't blame him though to be honest. Carl Froch was unproven at that point.
Yeah, that's why I wish Calzaghe was a few years younger. Maybe he isn't looking to retire until right now, and he could have fought Froch now or before now. Maybe in the Super Six.

If Froch beats Kessler in the rematch, then yes, I would have to put Froch past Calzaghe resume wise. Head to head though, I still have Calzaghe winning 9 times out of 10.

I don't care if Calzaghe was the man at 168 or if you believe he was the man at 175. Those two weight classes were both rather weak at that time. Now those two divisions are arguably top 5 divisions in the sport.

I don't mean to attack your post but that is the exact point I was making with people from the UK love Calzaghe. You want him to go through the Super Six, Pascal, fight Kessler again, Bute, and now beat Ward in a rematch and then move up and beat the king of that division(mind you he already beat the previous king). All that, while Calzaghe did so very little.

All because Calzaghe had a few belts.
Just because those guys fought under the super 6 label it doesn't make them top, elite fighters.

And you think Calzaghe would get within a one mile radius of prime Froch?? LOL
Openly ducked ... Calzaghe was a light heavy before Froch actually beat anyone of any note (Pascal) and back them Pascal hadn't done **** either.

Calzaghe never fought anyone as good as Ward and turned down a fight with Dawson. Carl could call out ancient Roy Jones and win no problem, tie one of Calzaghe's 'best' wins without breaking sweat.
Hopkins was as good as Ward..not anymore

Calzaghe was already on his way out when Dawson was on the rise.

I have more respect for Froch then I ever did Calzaghe that is for sure

simply because Froch can say he fought the best of the best during his ERA and ducked no one, he could have stayed in Nottingham and protect his undefeated record as well if he wanted to do so

Calzaghe fans always go on the defensive when Froch gets a big win.

Froch is a great guy to root for. IMO, Froch is like Cotto and despite coming up short a few times, they are beloved by the boxing community. There is something to be said about fighters that are willing to lay it all on the line and always take the hard fights.

                Oh yeah, I get you.

That would have been a huge fight in 2012 if they were both around.

I think it has a lot to do with him being undefeated and cruising through his competition but that just needs to stop.

I respect Calzaghe a bit because it isn't easy to do what he did but his resume pales in comparison to Frochs. Yes, Calzaghe is undefeated, cong**** but being undefeated means very little to me. I care about who you fought and when you fought them. The Cobra is beating guys that are at the top of their game and never been in a boring fight. I don't care if Froch got schooled by Ward because there wasn't a Ward skill level fight ever on Calzaghes resume.
I agree with you. although I think Calzaghe would beat Froch. But as far as resume is concerned, Froch is better than Calzaghe cause he faced every tough fighter in the division in their prime. Calzaghe fought mostly guys like Bute fought, Froch fought the best in the world and beat most of them. Anybody who says Calzaghe has a better resume than Froch, is an idiot. but as I said, head to head, Calzaghe would probably be to fast for Froch

Not when Calzaghe fought him, not at all. He was still good, but he was nowhere near Ward's level at that point. Tiredness kicked in pretty clearly in the later rounds when Hopkins was ahead on the cards.

Calzaghe retired at what, 36? Froch is nearing that and still talking about fights with Kessler, moving up to rematch Pascal and other top LH's over the next few years. Kessler and Hopkins saved Joe's legacy looking at it.

Manfredo, Bika, Lacy, Ashira, Velt, Salem, Mkrtchyan, Mitchell, Pudwill, Jiminez, Brewer, Mcintyre, Velt - that's 13 of Calzaghe's last 16 career fights, compare those names to who Froch challenged himself against.
