  • IMO, Froch is a greater fighter than Calzaghe.

I've felt like this for a long time and stated many times on this very site that the Cobra is the man. I don't know why there is a love infatuation with Joe Calzaghe but there clearly is for people across the pond. I think it has a lot to do with him being undefeated and cruising through his competition but that just needs to stop.

I respect Calzaghe a bit because it isn't easy to do what he did but his resume pales in comparison to Frochs. Yes, Calzaghe is undefeated, cong**** but being undefeated means very little to me. I care about who you fought and when you fought them. The Cobra is beating guys that are at the top of their game and never been in a boring fight. I don't care if Froch got schooled by Ward because there wasn't a Ward skill level fight ever on Calzaghes resume.

      It's certainly arguable.

I think Froch definitely has the better resume at 168.

And is one win away from being the greater fighter all together.

If Froch beats Kessler in a rematch then he's greater than Calzaghe by a margin, IMO.

If only Calzaghe had been a few years younger and we could have gotten this fight. Calzaghe would have won, but it would have been a lot of fun.

We could of had it a few years ago but Calzaghe said no. I know at that time Zags was trying to make big fights with Hopkins/RJJ but one fight with Froch wouldn't of hurt. It wasn't like Froch was a complete unknown either.

It could have happened anyway. Calzaghe turned it down.

I don't blame him though to be honest. Carl Froch was unproven at that point.

                It was like that.

It literally was exactly like that.

                  I think he is, yes.

Calzaghe has ancient Jones and Hopkins (some even think he lost this fight) and a good Kessler as his best wins.
Froch has 30-0 Bute, Taylor (who beat Hopkins twice), Dirrell (some say he lost), undefeated Jean Pascal, Glen Johnson, and Arthur Abraham. He has also taken on the absolute best boxing has to offer, even though he lost to Ward I did feel he won the Kessler fight.

Calzaghe has bigger names but if you look at it, Froch has faced the bigger challenges IMO.

Froch has problems with fighters who move well, that was actually Butes main mistake last night he should have moved a lot more.Calzaghe could move had fast hand hard match style wise for Froch.even though i love the guy a true breath of air into boxing the cobra is.
