the only thing that helped cotto out was the jab. cotto has a very good jab.thats what cause the nose to bleed.thats normal. other than that mayweather sliced and diced cotto.just imaging had mayweather just boxed.he wouldve easily whoopped and ruined cotto.no harm done. on to the next one. hopefully again fraudquiao.

Watch the first minute of round 8 buddy. Cotto got countered A LOT. Yes he won that round by catching Floyd many times during the end but people act like Floyd wasn't hitting Cotto back. There's a point in that round where Floyd lands three uppercuts in a row but people act as if that didn't happen. In round 12 Cotto was nearly dropped, something Floyd never even came close to doing.

Exactly. I've been saying this since the fight. Floyd clearly win the 1st minute or so of the 8th round so how anyone can to think that it was the most dominant round of the fight is beyond me. I agree that Cotto won the round by coming back and outlanded May, but it was never completely one sided.

The fight was about as close as I expected. I never expected May to shut Cotto out on the strength of the weight alone. The only thing that surprised me was Cotto's defense. He defense wasn't as leaky as it has been in the past.

Well 9-3 and 10-2 are pretty wide margins. It's always funny when posters quote "people" in an effort to make a point. "People" say anything and everything. I think that the fight went about as expected. I don't think that all the people who were expecting Cotto to be Gatti'ed or shut out were being realistic. I expected a 10-2 or 9-3 fight and that's what it was. Cotto is a good fighter who had the weight to his advantage.

Floyd had to use his legs, did you not see the 8th round? Cotto is better than Floyd if Floyd stays on the ropes, sorry end of discussion. Floyd wasn't gassed, but if he stayed in the ropes he would have lost more and more rounds.

Cotto won more than 2 rounds anyone who says otherwise is a ***** and a dumbass. The 3rd round Cotto landed 1 less punch I believe and his punches have more pop. Not saying you can't give Floyd the round but it was a toss up round, same with the 5th and the 10th IMO. If you watch the fight again you can see which rounds were close, when they each heard the 10 second warning go off they tried to get that last shot in, these were the 7th, 3rd, 5th and 10th rounds. Giving all those rounds Floyd is biased just as giving all those rounds to Cotto would be biased. Cotto won 4 rounds and 5 if you are being VERY NICE, he didn't win the fight.

There's no rule that you have to split the close rounds evenly between the 2 fighters. In fact, that's a flawed and dangerous way to score a fight. I didn't even see the 7th round being all that close, certainly not the 5th. I thought those 2 were clear rounds for Mayweather. The 3rd, 9th, and 10th were close but I gave them to Mayweather because he did a little more than Cotto in those rounds.

perfect summary and i agree with this 100%, during the fight when my emotions were high I even thought cotto could have taken it. when i rewatched/scored it i had it 115-113 mayweather.

It was an easy fight for Mayweather. The only round that Cotto clearly won was the 8th. Like Lederman said, ppl gave those other round(s) to Cotto because of the sympathy effect. Cotto gave 200% just to win the 8th. He was literally jumping off the mat to land punches. Everyone want to make a big deal about the nose bleed but this is boxing. Everyone bleeds at some point. Look at Pacquiao's face after the Clotty match. He landed way more punches than Clotty and looked like a zombie after that fight.

The resounding opinion on this forum pre-fight was that it was a mismatch. It was far from that... the cards may have read 9-3 and 10-2 (I believed it to be 8-4) but the reality is Cotto gave Floyd a fight, and when Roger says 'Floyd beat that ass easy' it is far from the truth.
