Why is Calzaghes win over Hopkins so underated?

He moved up in weight o challenge the Ring champ(unlike Ward)and won...after that Fight Hopkins went on to regain the Ring title ,lineal title and WBC title so he was far from shot.............Joe pushed Hopkins like no 1 ever had and made him not wanna fight.....

Because Hopkins won that fight.

Respect is earned & frankly the guy didn't earn my respect.

If Canelo beats Paul Williams, his CV is about the same as Joes and he is still a kid

40 cans, 1 or 2 ex world champions that lucked a belt here and there and 2 washed up as **** old men who was once considered a force.

This is exactly how I feel. Basically Calzaghe had great slapping activity and very good endurance so he could slap for the duration of the fight and get a win. He gets very little respect because he doesn't deserve much.

His win against Kessler was his best and it's an alright win, but its not like he beat the **** out of Kessler or anything. And Kessler is not even that great, he got dropped by Alan Green (even though afterward scored an awesome KO), and fought life and death with Froch who is not great either)

I think Joe was a very clever fighter in the sense he took the right fights at the right times & ducked the real threats very carefully by doing this he possibly managed to become an overachiever - I actually respect that in a way.

I agree his best win is Kessler & its a very good win though I always did feel Kessler would do a lot better in a rematch.

I simply have a lot more respect for a guy like Froch who risked his 0 by fighting the best, absolutely anybody who dared challenge him constantly going over to foreign soil to defend his belt against the top guys.
Win or lose, always giving a good account of himself.

He went through Pascal, Dirrell, Kessler, Abraham, Taylor, Johnson, Ward & instead of taking a break or stepping down a bit to try regain his confidence he is now fighting Lucian Bute.

Its a very good win for JC and possibly the best win on his cv. Probably underated as he didnt KO BH or knock him down, and it was close.

Similar to pacs win over JMM in that it was close, so people kind of underestmate the win for Pac, but at least Pac downed JMM and JMM was on his way out.

cuz he looked like crap. Only reason he won is because he threw a lot of punches while 43 year old hopkins didn't. Hopkins landed all of the clean, hard shots, but calzaghe threw hundreds of slaps. Hopkins also slowed down in the later rounds and that was the difference in the judges eyes.

hopkins was/is too old to fight volume punchers. I think it's clear to anyone (besides hardcore calzaghe fans) that if hopkins was younger he would have beat zag rather easily.

first off, hopkins was 40 years old when he fought Taylor and already started slowing down. second, if u don't think hopkins won at least one of those fights you're crazy.
