Here's how I saw it: Cotto outfought Mayweather but Mayweather outboxed Cotto. I had it close and depending on what you look for, the close rounds could've gone either way. I gave Miguel at least 5 rounds. He was caught by Mayweather's effective aggression but at the same time controlled the Ring Generalship. This fight shows you that had Mayweather fought Cotto in 2007-2008, Cotto would've done even better. To all of those people who thought Mayweather would 'Gatti' Cotto, give praise to Cotto's proud performance. Well done Mayweather.

Pacquiao would still walk through Cotto because of the styles. Cotto's weakness is dealing with combinations. Both Manny and Margarito were combination punchers and Floyd did best against Cotto when he threw them. THe problem was that Floyd did not throw enough combinations. His style is set for Cotto to be more competitive than most but still lose to Floyd but get battered by Pacquiao.
I agree it was styles. And, Pac would walk through him again at any weight. But, will go life and death with JMM while Floyd will toy with JMM. Just the style clash that's all. No biggie and Floyd won decisively anyways.

Not his demeanor. He could have KO'd him earlier if that was his style mindset but it isn't. He's defensive minded very calculating, doesn't try to waste punches at all. Not even if it's the last round and he has his man hurt.

Why? You know that Pacquiao doesn't want Cotto at 154 or even 147. He made a welterweight go down to 144 - just like he's done with other top-fighters in the past to steal crappy belts. So, do you really want to see this again?

Mayweather doesn't throw many combinations anymore. You can't hold Cotto back with one or two punches at a time. If you want to do that then you have to fight him in the center. Not on the ropes.

Floyd made the fight more difficult than it had to be. I still had him winning 9-3. He landed the more telling and precise punches.

I still pick Floyd to beat Pac, the good thing about what makes Pac exciting is he gets hit in order to get his shots off, which may not be counter punching but he'l get the better of the exchange.

This Floyd is more offense, he had great footwork. Not sure he could keep it up for 12 rounds with Pac following.
Well technically Pac can throw 1000 punches vs Floyd, but if your're talking about actually connecting, now that's a different story.

dude you have to compare styles..

pac is a style nightmare for a 35 year old floyd...

                  pac is faster than floyd

                  better foot work

                  throws hellacious combinations,

                  has more power

                  throws 1000 punches a fight..

at 35 floyd gets beat 3 ways

                  3 years ago floyd wins.
What's it with these dumb asses who claim Pac will throw 1000 punches? Dude he only throws 1000 punches against punching bags like Margarito.. look how hesitant he was against Marquez. Pac fights absolutely nothing like Cotto.
