I see you talking about arum & Pacman but conveniently left out Floyd. Like he didn't do his part by claiming Pacman was on peds without a smudge of proof.

It's not speculation that Cotto got Floyd soon as he left Arum.

He's been the hold up all along.

Yeah they only trained to go 15 rounds too.

They trained to go much longer than that. I know for certain that both Max Baer and Joe Louis had a few 20 rd fights in the 1930's and 1940's. And of course there were many others. In earlier years were fighte up to 45 rounds, like Jack Johnson-Jess Willard. Early records show that they had as few as 2-3 round fights, 5-6 rds fights etc. Many were more like exhibitions, and it was common for fighters with their sparring partners to tour right through the country giving shows in the outlying towns and cities. Anything to make a dollar. They needed to eat and often ate not too well. It's a vast subject not to be handled here.

On these sites we get only the bare details, but the nuances, little anecdotes, personal comments, potentially significant but not recorded events etc are not there. We get those in other ways, drop by drop, to try to make a more-or-less whole story.

Does Cotto say whether he told Arum he thinks it might be a good deal to fight Mayweather?? The fighters and their managers chose who to fight, the Promoters tell them who's available and how good a business deal it might be, and then boost up the fight.

You clucks seem to think that Arum is a Svengali, and has complete control. Their contracts don't give promoters complete control, except over the event itself. If they did it wouldn't stand up in a court. So get real.

I can't help but agree. Nowhere is the general lack of insight, perspective, and history more apparent than here in NSB. I hate to be "that guy", but when I first joined up here back in June of 2006 there was much more appreciation for previous eras, more knowledge than personal opinion in users' posts, and a healthy portion of the userbase was well versed in boxing history.

Then then De La Hoya/Mayweather "superfight" happened, along with a succession of other "superfights", and the influx of new fans to the sport and the drop off of overall intellect here in NSB pretty much coincide with each other.
