Cotto is a good fighter. Just not as good as Oscar was.

Oscar was still be the bigger victory for Floyd when it's all said and done

Cotto's not a useless fight in my opinon. But, it's not great. I'm not happy with it. It's decent at best.

And despite being a Mayweather fan, it doesn't mean I'm going to lie and pretend like Cotto isn't well down the slope of decline and act like he has a chance or is a test.

It's a decent fight, at best. Only way to celebrate this fight is if he does what he has to do and dominates or stops Cotto. Which I'm sure he will do, one or the other.
Fair enough, I respect your opinion.

All I know is, on May 5th, if Cotto does what I and many others want him to do, I will have no voice left

I think a prime Hatton is certainly better than this version of Cotto.

Perhaps an 09 version of Cotto is better than a prime Hatton.

And of course a prime Cotto is better than a prime Hatton.

Hatton was in the P4P Top 10 when Mayweather fought him. I'd absolutely say it's a better fight than this.
          By rankings, sure.

But was his ranking reflective of his actual talent? To me, that's a definite no.

And that wasn't even a prime Hatton, plus he was at WW, a weight that was clearly no good for him.

But again, agree to disagree. Always good to debate with someone level headed, it's rare around here now.

The thing is, it's not even close. Besides probably 1 or 2 guys, I see Oscar running through this current Jr MW division, he would have looked far more impressive against Cotto's opposition there too. I understand that he was past his prime, part time fighter, but he was still extremely dangerous.

After receiving a savage beat down by the hands of Pac, many said Cotto was shot and should retire. There was a lot of speculation until Cotto announced he was going to 154 to take on undefeated Yuri Foreman.

He stops the undefeated Foreman in 9 and picks up a belt at 154. His fans are happy he's grabbed another title but don't expect him to reach the heights he was once at.

His next fight against Mayorga was a strange choice.

Then they announce the rematch against Cotto's nemesis, Margarito. There is a lot of hype and attention on this fight because of Margarito's wraps and the question, ' Would he have beaten Miguel had he not had loaded wraps? '

Cotto wins in emphatic fashion and the great Miguel Cotto facade is created.

Diaz has done a lot for Cotto but I think the Margarito win and Cotto's run at 154 have blinded a lot of people.

I hope I'm proved wrong on May 5th.

I don't think Cotto is all that different than in the past, people say he is different now but I don't see that not to any real extent anyway. I think it is wrong to really hype him but that is pretty much what he had in the past when people wanted the fight, it is not like he was some vastly better fighter.

The flaws he has he always had, I never thought he was a real challenge for Floyd.

As compared to recent opposition Oscar would clearly be at the top then I think you could put Hatton, Cotto and Mosley with Ortiz bringing up the rear but the three in the middle you could put in whatever order I didn't think he would lose to any of them or thought they had a real shot but they all had positives, negatives and were all quality veterans so I have no issue with whatever order they go in.

You don't really believe that for one minute..

It's your pathetic national pride and hate for Mayweather..

The Hoya that Floyd fought would tear Cotto to shreds...

I know. This fight will be so close that it will come down to whoever wins the last couple rounds, will win the fight!
