While I do agree that it's funny with people acting like Cotto is some sort of shot bum or something, Oscar was tougher at that time for Floyd. Oscar was bigger, quicker, and Floyd looks bigger now like he can carry more weight now days and still be alright.
That's all I was saying. He's past his prime-still good. He can still fight, but he's never been prime since the 1st Margarito beating. He just never has looked like he did from 2003/2004-2007/2008. I really do believe that Floyd wanted to fight Cotto in 2005-2007, oh well. When they were both JWW and Bob saw what Floyd did to Gatti, I really don't think he wanted to put Miguel in there with him. Floyd would have f**ked him up just as bad back then as he's about to. And when Floyd split from Top Rank, the Cotto fight was a pipe dream.
At least it's happening now with Cotto at 154, past his prime-still good. Floyd is about the same amount of time removed from his prime as Miguel. Floyd's just better, always has been and always will be.
I think every fight he has had from Oscar to present is a better fight than Cotto.
Oscar, Hatton, Marquez, Mosley and Ortiz.
If it were a prime, pre Margarito Cotto, then I'd say it would probably be the best fight he's had since Castillo.
But, it's not.
This version of Cotto? Not even remotely close. IMO.
Yea he's clearly not what he was, I just think less of Floyd's opposition than you do.
I think his opposition has been solid and doesn't deserve anywhere near the criticizm it largely gets but a guy like Hatton...I'm sorry but I think this past prime version of Cotto is better than any version of Hatton.
Just gonna have to agree to disagree on this one. Cheers.
Nobody got to see where Floyd was really at in the Ortiz fight. It only lasted 4 rounds and it was Floyd's first KO since Hatton(and he hadn't stopped anyone before that for over 2 years). Also, I don't consider the Ortiz fight to be a totally legit KO, given that it was a bit of a cheap shot(even though Victor was being a big ******). I think Cotto has every chance in this fight and is most definitely a tougher opponent than Oscar was in 2007. However, another factor is the fact that '07 was Floyd's first match at the very highest level of the sport(in terms of attention being paid to the fight, etc). I think that Floyd should have beaten Oscar by a wider margin given where they were both at in their careers, but perhaps the occasion got to him ever so slightly and that's why the fight was closer.
I think Mayweather fans will be ****ting their pants if the fight is close on the cards running down the stretch, which it easily could be. Having said that, I make Floyd favorite to win a decision - but I'll be rooting for Miguel all the way!
Just like your and the rest opinion is that Cotto will get destroyed on this one-sided fight by Floyd I belive that Miguel will surprise alot of people on May 5th.
Like I said before, Mayweather may win, but its not going to an easy fight for him. I belive that Miguel will knockdown him at least once.
This gives you an out. So when Mayweather wins a wide UD, you will overplay Cotto's success and throw in phrases like "gave mayweather fits" ect. Just like how there are a few still to this day that insist Ortiz gave mayweather "problems" or "Was coming on" even though they admit that he won 1 round at best.

Fair enough.
I think a prime Hatton is certainly better than this version of Cotto.
Perhaps an 09 version of Cotto is better than a prime Hatton.
And of course a prime Cotto is better than a prime Hatton.
Hatton was in the P4P Top 10 when Mayweather fought him. I'd absolutely say it's a better fight than this.
