Cant base who was better from there losses, You have to go by there wins. Tito has bigger names in his resume than JMM has. They were both great but Tito has the better resume. And he still managed to go up to 160 and capture a title, as far as the DLH fight, DLH waited until Tito was ready to go up, Tito had actually already gone up to fight at 154, then he went back down to 147, and DLH still didnt want to stand and fight, DLH lost alot of respect in that fight and he openly admited that he felt Tito to strong in the later rounds and thought he had the fight in the bag...bad choice on his part he should of took the risk and tried to seal the deal but he was scared to.

On paper Tito has the better resume but when you look at what really happened in the fights, it's a different story. Tito truly lost to Oscar and JMM truly beat Pac in the 3rd fight. So JMM should be a 4 division champ with a victory over Ring Magazine's #1 P4P. With the exception of Whitaker who was past his best, Tito actually lost to the 4 best fighters he faced (Oscar, Bhop, Winky and Roy). Take all that into account and tell me Tito is still greater.

You are quite wrong. John won the fight comfortably. Oscar Perez as judge gave John his biggest score, 116-110 about the same as another judge's 117-111. Guillermo Perez Pineda was the referee, and if THEY were biased you can guess who they'd be biased in favour of, judging from their names. One was from Puerto Rico I think, I can't get into Boxrec to confirm. I think even without the deductions he won well.

I recall reading about this after the fight that one Western reporter was there from Ring Magazine, Scott Mallon. He said the decision was accurate and John won well. Everyone over here was trying to use the "home-town decision" route, expecially Marquez who, according to himself and Beristain has never been beaten. Marquez was stripped of the IBF title after there were no bids on the fight...... One popular guy, no doubt. He'd refused $750,000 for the Pacquiao return, asking for $1,5 mill (I think more than Pacquiao was getting) and was forced to fight John for $32,500........... He's very lucky that his skills have lasted into comparative old age and into the mega-money era for lower weight classes.

all JMM has is 3 close non-wins against PAC and getting his ass kicked by Floyd

He also beat Medina, Gainer, Salido, Polo, Barrera, Casamayor, and Diaz. He's won 5 titles in 3 weight classes.

Not to mention he should have 1-2 wins over Pacquiao, as well as wins over Norwood and John on there.

Marquez is a HOF fighter and ATG.

It's really close, could go either way though.

Trinidad had wins over Camacho, Campas, Carr, Whitaker, De La Hoya, Vargas, Joppy, and Mayorga. To be fair though, Whitaker wasn't a good fight at that point. The last time Pernell was a good fight the Oscar fight 2 years prior to that.

If you give it to Marquez, than you are taking into account that he was robbed against Norwood and John, and should have at the very least one win over Pacquiao.

Marquez' greatest achievement was the "draw" against pacquiao, which everyone now knows was really a loss for marquez, thanks to judge burt clements admitting his mistake and telling the whole world pacquiao really won.


Not sure of the quality of his resume, but he's lost his 4 biggest fights; 3 times to pac and once to floyd.


These facts need to be considered when evaluating his legacy.
