I have to go against to the majority and pick Trinidad. Say what you want about the Oscar fight but the fact of the matter is, the dude went unbeaten at welterweight, beat countless champions and former champions, stormed through junior middleweight on the way up to looking the same way at middleweight until he ran into Mr Bernard. It took an all time great middleweight to put an end to all of this. And even in that fight, Hopkins used lateral movement even though he was the much bigger man. Tito was an absolute beast.

Who will go down as the greater fighter Juan Manuel Marquez or Tito Trinidad?

He defended the IBF welterweight title 16 times. I think its crazy how underrated he gets. Marquez is great, but he doesn't have as many quality wins as Trinidad and didn't reign as long.

arum wasnt willing to match him against erik despite those two being stablemates bcoz JMM was too clinical and did not pull "crowds" as good as morales have...
but to say erik or MAB avoided JMM is revisionist history...

Fact is they could had done a match and it didn't happened. I'm a long time JMM fan and he fought in obscurity for a while and any of Nacho's fighter for that matter

Trinidad, all his wins except for Oscar where decisive. His only losses where in bigger weights, against Hall of famers, and two all time greats.
Marquez has lost twice to all time greats and twice to fighters that will be forgotten by next decade.

The reason they're even compring both fighters is based on Marquez's performances against Pacquiao, cause if you rationally think about it., Marquez's best wins are either against past prime versions of Barrera and Casamayor, or Juan Diaz.Last edited by ELHURACAN58; 04-14-2012, 08:01 PM.

Ill give Marquez the benfit of the doubt against John since the fight was in Indonesia, but Marquez supposedly has gotten robbed in all fights, his just doesnt have what it takes to win against elite fighters that arent past prime.
Can you mention fighters in their primes that Marquez has beaten?
Also Hopkins>>>Mayweather no contest.
