wow. Really? How manny wars had gatti been in up to that point? U can't be serious. Also..like I said miguel may be a better boxer than gatti...but that's not the issue. The issue is how both these guys behave from a psych perspective...they are basically...'BASICALLY" the same fighter. I mean really after 4 or 5 trainers what has miguel changed??? still crouches down over his feet. Still doesn't move his head. Still doesn't change tempos in fights (fights measured & methodical)...I mean. Floyd won't miss that big head if he tried. He's gonna touch him to the head & body...Either he batters him all night or makes them submit....Period.

I'll pay my respects to Gatti because he was a true blood and guts warrior but he wasn't as talented or dominant in his career as Cotto. 1. Cotto's head movement/ defense may be mediocre but compared to Gatti he would be a defensive genius. Miguel has a solid guard but open for uppercuts which eventually make him vunerable in the later rounds. Gatti was a face first brawler with little regard for protecting himself. 2. Cotto has proven against Malinaggi, Judah, Mosley, Foreman that his hand speed and timing gave him very deceptive punching velocity that negated any speed disadvantages. 3. Gatti made a career of fighting at 155+ and squeezing down to 140. He was always the bigger fighter that gave his fighting style the advantages. Any time he moved up to 147 or fought supremely talented fighters he usually got stopped. Cotto on the other hand is a short and undersized Welter-Jr middle that has relied heavily on his offensive arsenal, intangibles and punching power to carry him. 4. Are you truly that naive to judge a fighter on his face. Yes, Cotto marks up during most of his fights including fights he dominates. Maybe it's his skin type, or pigment or who gives a damn. But that has no bearing on a fighter being successful. Take Maidana for instance, he can take a beating but rarely ever marks up. Does that mean he was successful?
Now to your parallels, no Cotto will not outbox Floyd. A smart bet is Mayweather UD but as far as azz beatings or stoppages. Get real, Floyd doesn't let his hands go enough to stop any top Welter or Jr middle. Yes, he has a high connect % but doesn't throw in combinations and very rarely will throw more than 45+ punches a round. So far Miguel has gassed only to pressure fighters but we'll see if Floyd's pure boxer style can gas Cotto. Bewilder and confuse maybe, but, I don't see Floyd grinding him down for a stoppage. Cotto dominates Gatti to a highlight reel type win.
*yawn* Do u even hear urself sir. U just said gatti was oversized & miguel is undersized...wow. Miguel may be short but he's 'thick built' ...plus he's a fatboi. Why else would someone the size of mugsy bogues be fighting at 154. Also...b4 I dig into ur super-biased opinion...(can't take u serious w/ him as ur avatar). Second look at the guys ur comparing mayweather to as an argument for cotto overcoming handspeed...this is too easy & too funny. Cotto had no fear of paulie (7 kos career) Also...the shane win was a good one. But shane has no jab & does not use superior handspeed to beat opps. (Shane hasn't looked good against a marked opp since the lower weight classes) third...yuri foreman?? I don't even need to offer up a rebuttle to that one. & let's look at the judah fight...Cotto was getting touched...HARD. He was hurt & had to hit the man w/ low blows to seize control. I don't call that overcoming a fster fighter....He took the starch totally out of judah thru his nuts. And lastly Zab is a notorious frontrunner who's only dominant over a certain level of opponent.
Here's the rub...try & hope & wish cotto fights well all u want. but it won't happen. Cotto is at 54 bc he doesn't discipliine himself enough to maintain a good weight between fights. Cotto got hit by SLOW AZZ TONY 100 fewer times over 9 rds than in their 1st fight & his face looked like ****. Enough w/ the bs excuses & reaching. Wut that means is he has no clue about getting out of the way of punches. & he's fighting a guy who will have a 50-60% connect % against a guy like that. A fighter who has every advantage physical & mental....I don't know wut ur seeing. ur reaching dogg.Comment

U guys say the same things almost every mayweather fight. But I must be watching a diff fighter bc Although floyd throws fewer than 50 punches/rd in most fights. He controls the tempo from the jump. My question to all of u is if floyd is so feather fisted...why is it that opponents don't just stand their ground & go toe 2 toe...how is it he's able to back up guys "bigger, stronger, who hit harder"?? why is nobody walking thru those punches & getting to him like hatton did to Kostya??? I mean it's funny to come on here & read these comments.
You look at the last fight w/ ortiz (who almost weighed in @ LH) floyd was backing him up w/ straight rights to the head & he did let combinations go. I predicted the fight would end around 9 or 10. But as I watched I was certain ortiz wouldn't make it past 6. I mean..it's just funny to see guys put all this hope in a fighter who has yet to even fight well in the past several yrs. His last good performance was in the mosely fight & even that fight was a gimmie at the end. I had miguel winning but I have friends til this day who give that fight to shane. Cotto made me proud vs Clottey...But he didn't fight particularly well. he was getting touched all nite that night too. & every time he gets into trouble he resorts to fouling....He doesn't clich so he's going to take shots. I see this mayweather fight no diff....don't mean to shatter yalls dreams but floyd is going to give a highlight reel azz whooping to cotto. Dude is just faded. It won't even be close. Floyd is going to end his night.Comment

Well said!! It's amazing how blind these guys are, but they'll see come and May 5, and after watch the excuses pour in. #1 excuse, Cotto has been through wars and is not the same fighter...SMHComment

I agree. Talk is cheap.A lot of opinionated "fans" here are not betting. They love to claim that Mayweather will stop Cotto. But they're not even betting their worthless e-points, let alone their cars and homes. They just love to talk. The walking is non-existent.
Their opinions are worthless right now.
Floyd nuthuggers should be offering at least double to one if they're so sure Floyd would beat Cotto. Their opinions are indeed worthless at this point.Comment

Lol trust me, Cotto fans don't have excuses. We're supposed to lose. The excuses that will pour out are the ones from the Mayweather fans who "have this in the bag". Good luck, and hope for your sake that mayweather beats cotto.
