No it hasn't always been a problem. What happened in those fights is that Cotto was a young, brave, and confident fighter. On top of that, he was fighting very competitive opponents. Once he grew into himself, his chin has been solid every since. Cotto has improved his defense, balance, and ring IQ in recent years that has helped him in recent fights. He hasn't cut in 4 or 5 fights because he knows he has to defend at this stage. Steward helped him with that. Also, Cheeto had plaster in his gloves and disfigured Cotto's face, and it STILL took 12 rounds to end it. That means his chin is solid. He got cut in the 3rd round against Clottey with no real cut man who coudn't stop the bleeding, and still took hard shots without a problem. Against Manny, he was weight-drained and it STILL took 12 to stop him. He is a hell of a fighter with a lot of heart and will to win. He doesn't just fight for money, he fights for legacy and that is why he will win on May 5th. You heard it here first. No way Mayweather will stop him. May's inactivity and poor work-rate, will be his demise eventually.
so you will give credit to floyd if he wins?

That's cause he's been fighting washed up or unproven fighters recently.

            What are you.............

What kind of question is that? It's a fight. I am a fan of the sport. I am not here to be questioned man. I call everything like I see it. If Mayweather wins, he wins. Question is, will YOU give Cotto credit if he wins? Based on that question alone, I know you are a bogus fan of one fighter vs. the other. That's the difference between me and you; I know that this is a 50/50 fight. You guys on here act like certain fighters are GODS. Guess what? There are no more boxing GODS. Especially in this era. There was nothing wrong with what I said. It is all fact. There was no reason to ask me that question. Check my credentials.[/.

                Breakdown........

I can respect that. How do you see the fight being an easy one for Floyd? How will he fight Cotto? Why will he be successful in the fight?

I think floyd's plan for this fight is to not be the one giving up ground. He wants to pop that cannon. I think miguel will be the one using lateral movement and trying to outmaneuver floyd.

Miguel has zero chance...zero. Wut's he gonna do out think floyd?? Outbox him?? Oh i know...out-slug him right??? No. He's gonna out box him from distance on the outside...or better yet bully him on the in side... Break his right rib right??? Riiiiiiight. Foh!

I don't read hip hop blogs f*ggot. That was my first reaction wen the fight was made. Pedro diaz is a very good coach but i don't give a **** wut gameplan they come w/....miguel cannot execute....period. He will get touched. He will get confused...he will get discouraged & his will will be broken. If floyd is so feather fisted why hasn't anybody just blitzed him & run right thru his defense & punches. (he only throws 30/rd)??? Here's a hint...they can"t! He does hit hard. Ortiz wouldn't have made it beyond the 6th rd....judah was on his way too being stopped. & he was toying w/ my guy jmm (who has a huge heart & sturdy chin) u guys really just live in bubbles....

You don't have to take my word for it. Just come back after the fight to kiss my ball bi*ch & i'm good. Gatti/cotto is a perfect parallell bc they both have the same basic approach to fighting regardless of who is better skilled.

Why do I keep reading about comparisons between Gatti and Cotto? Do you people watch Boxing?

Some may have thought of Cotto as no better in 2006, thinking that Malignaggie, Quintana or Judah were gonna box his socks off, and yet his timing and occasional counters were good enough to beat all of them.

Floyd will probably win, but enough of this Gatti/Cotto comparison nonsense.
The comparison isnt skill as far as Im concerned.
The comparison will be spot on in terms of pace and pattern. Like Gatti Cotto will try to play a thinking game (similar to Gatti). That will cost him. Cotto has problems when he loses control of a fights pace. Thats why Judah, Margirito and Mosley all got to him. One thng we all can agree on is that in the middle rounds Cotto fades and Floyd takes control of pace against any types of fighter. I wont say Cotto is a mirror image of Gatti but he isnt much quicker to the target and he only fights well at one rhythmic pattern. FLoyd wont let him coast later in the fight and Cotto will have to step on the gas because he's likely to be behind from the 7th round on. That will be disaster for him because he'll have no choice but to open up. At that point speed and accuracy will force someone to stop the fight in 9 or 10 rounds. One positive is that Cotto has always been a good finisher and if he should land a punch similar to what Mosley landed he has a better chance of finishing the job. Its just a punchers chance in my book.

Floyd never fights the other man's fight like SRL and Cotto will not stay in attack mode all night. That is the difference. It is similar in setting though.
