I don't know about the conspiracy theory that GBP owns RING mag has anything to do with rankings.

Pacquiao is the #1 P4P fighter and at welter in their mag and he clearly isn't, and he clearly isn't promoted by GBP, while a fighter they do work with, Mayweather- SHOULD be the clear #1, but isn't.

And a win over him is certainly better than a draw with Perez.

he hasnt beaten anyone of note after that

mares had the edge on perez...it was a close high paced fight which many, including panda, thought mares edged even though he took his foot off the gas in the middle rounds

had they fought again a more experienced mares wouldve handled him easily just like agbeko did in his rematch with perez

darchinyan made it a dirty, ugly fight, and still a relatively green mares squeezed out a close but fair decision

The Sydorenko win is what took Moreno to higher ranks at 118 and has just stayed there since which is what I was referring to to him fighitng top fighters before Mares which was why he has been ranked higher for a while.

I wouldn't be mad if Mares was ranked above Moreno to be honest, he did win the Tornument and probably has the better resume.

I think Moreno is the better fighter personally but who should be ranked higher is arguable, IMO.

In this case it has nothing to do with performance vs common opponent because the common opponent was already degraded by the time Moreno fought Vic.

Moreno reached a higher rank before Mares and hasn't lost that's why he is on top.

The fact that Anselmo also beat Darch is a minor point. Vic's stock was already dropping coming off the losses to Agbeko and Mares.

Morel should be good prep for a Moreno fight.
