so an olympic gold medalist who had everything handed to him (as far as getting fights and exposure goes) had a better first title win than an obscure asian fighter with no amateur career worth mentioning. wow, that means a lot.

What source are you going by? By the end of 1996 he was removed from The Ring P4P list. He fought Sasakul in 97. And, he wasn't removed at the end of 1996 because of inactivity since he fought 4 months prior to that removal. Unless you're going by another source.

the argument for pacs win isnt in sasakul's resume for me, its in the circumstances around which pac won.
This is how I feel too. Even though Sasakul was a very solid to good fighter. Had some skills. But, what makes that win good is the circumstances around it.

and it's not ho you fight , its when you fought them.

coz if we based everything on that logic, pac's win over hoya is better than floyd's win over corrales.

        it's not who, it's when!
so what is your gripe with when floyd fought hernandez?? was he old? shot? coming off a loss? or was he still the best fighter in the division, coming off a series of impressive wins? ur saying a lot but it doesnt mean much because hernandez was the man in the division when floyd fought him

                How so?

When at that time all these fighters were better

                Roy Jones Jr.
                Oscar De La Hoya
                Pernell Whitaker
                Felix Trinidad
                Ricardo Lopez
                Junior Jones
                Kostya Tszyu
                Terry Norris
                Evander Holyfield
                Mark Johnson

How can ranking those 10 at that time. unjustifiable? Is not like Arbachakov was fighting murders row at this time. Tell me why YOU rank Arbachakov at this time ahead of any of those 10?

FWIW, Pac has an amateur career. Of course not as great as Floyd but nevertheless had amateur experience.

while i agree with some of what you said, 1. genaro was an american, he was from California if im not mistaken. floyd fought him in las vegas but floyd wasnt a vegas local as of yet so the home field advantage wasnt really floyds. 2. manny was an amatuer and he has an amateur record.

yes, manny has an amateur record but not as good or great compared to others such as floyd's or oscar's... sorry for the misleading sarcasm...

yes, genaro is an american (born in cali), but again, fight was made in US (home of both genares and floyd) and floyd has the buzz going on for him for his feat at the olympics... unlike sasakul-pacquiao which was held in thailand... i thought manny has the bigger balls for going to sasakul's turf and snatching his belt...
