Maskiev has done nothing since then but get knocked out, and beat bums.

....But you also shouldn't get a free pass when you just tested positive for steroids, got stripped of a title, and then you get another shot at another belt immediately after that. Toney is more exciting to watch but after what he did he doesn't deserve **** right now. Instead he goes straight to the front of the line for testing positive for steroid use. WTF???? I mean really WTF?

That was bull ****. He had no business fighting in an eliminaotr in the 1st place.

The sooner the emphasis gets away from the bogus 4 sets of rankings the better.
man ur making urself look dumb what the man is trying to say is that maskaev-sam fight was for the number 1 spot in the wbc and a chance to fight the champ, that means it was an official eliminator bout...

The whole thing is bogus. If its ok for Rahman to get the belt for going through the mandatories, then Maskaev should get a shot fot doing the same thing.

Yes, Toney is better than Maskaev, but the WBC should at least be consistant with this stuff.

Picture this. Ohio State and Oregon are better than WVU. West ******ia did what they were told and got a BCS bid. Either Oregon or OSU isnt going to the BCS. But suddenly, the BCS votes both teams in and WVU out because they are superior teams. Thats not quite fair to WVU, who won the BIg East and got the bid, now is it. Its the same situation with the WBC.

It cant work like that. As ****ed as the system is, you must stick to it.
        i agree man good post....

wlad is who everyone wants to see, wlad alone sells more tickets then don kings all 4 title holders and that the bottom line

I don't know the specifics on the Maskaev situation because I don't care much for the Heavyweight scene that is around today, but the #1 contenders spot with the WBC doesn't automatically make you the mandatory challenger. You can only become a mandatory challenger with them after there's been a vote from the members of their board. If they vote a fighter as the mandatory then they're in. If they vote that a fighter is not a mandatory challenger then they're out, even if said fighter is in the #1 contender spot.

Toney's where he is because of how good a fighter he is. He's a top Heavyweight.

Don't act so shocked and offended.

Vitali's career is over because he was a steroid user.

You make no mention of that. Big shocker.

James Toney is a top Heavyweight, a big draw, and one of a select few who have a chance at restoring some interest in the division.

And you make yourself look dumb with your photo and nack for needlessly replying to 4 posts in a row.

                I can't be anymore clear:

Maskaev and Sam were not top ten Heavyweights, and don't deserve to be fighting for titles.

The titles need to be unified and any other meaningless fights such as this are hurting the division and the fans and holding everything back.

According the WBA, Ray Austin is #2.

                    We've been through this.

It doesn't matter what the ABC rankings say, do, or don't do, because it's all a giant joke.

The only thing that matters is the top fighters facing off until a someone unifies.

Unify what? If its all a big joke, then what does it matter if someone unifies the titles? If they fight eachother, theyll be stripped and there will be nothing to unify.

The only one that matters is the Ring. Tarver and Johnson did the right thing.
