Uh no, Mayweather chose to go after Gatti because why fight Tsyzu when you can fight Gatti for more money. And oh Gatti is a shopworn face first brawler btw.
How did he chose to go after Gatti instead of Kosta Tszyu?

    That's not true at all.

      154 - #1 Ranked and WBA 154 lb Champion

      at 130 and 135, yes.

mosley looked good for 2 rounds. he was coming off of a huge layoff. the man he beat for the title had just been busted trying to load his wraps, and is almost certain to have used loaded wraps in winning the title from cotto.

we've gotten a better look at his state during that fight in hindsight. floyd fought a very shopworn mosley, whose supposed great victory over margarito was very misleading.

and cotto might be ranked number one at jr mw today by the ring, but he's still essentially a WW, and he's far past his best days. i dont think he's the best in the world at the weight by a long stretch.

floyd had an opportunity to fight him when he was on top at WW but he turned it down

Interesting that so many posters have inside info of how Floyd was able to make and get every fight he was at at 140.

Certainly a lot of excuses going on here. Hindsight must be your favourite.

There was no negotiation between Top rank (Mayweather promoter) and Tsyzu, Tsyzu was tied to fight Mitchell after 2 years of injuries, That's why he lost his belt to Gatti (WBC), Tsyzu had a long list of mandatory waiting which include Hatton, Tsyzu wasn't going to fight Hatton after he KO Mitchell and was threaten by Hatton promoter (Warren), Warren then proceed to offer Tsyzu one of the best deal just to stop Tsyzu from wanting to go after Gatti and to a lesser extent Mayweather, And he then duly lost his wrestling match

Technically Judah and Baldomir were the number 1 and 2 ranked guys at WW. Then throw in Mosley (number 1 at the time) and Ortiz (number 2 at the time). Hatton the number 1 JWW. Anybody who thinks Floyd ducked Cotto is a d@mn fool. Cotto will tell you himself that his team was never pursuing a fight with Floyd at that time. Im sure the new 24/7 will address what happened when they were both at TR.

Exactly. Mosley was ranked #1 at the weight and recognized champion. A lot of people said Floyd and Pac were ducking him, Floyd stepped up and fought him

What is there to debate ?

Add the fact that Maweather was contracted to HBO and Tszyu was contracted to Showtime at that point.

                      It's a fight that simply wasn't available.
