With Oscar being the name, with Floyd doing his best to promote the hell out of the fight. With 24/7 kicking off=Record breaking revenue.

Floyd couldn't do it with Oscar, Oscar couldn't do it without Floyd. And, I will guarantee that neither could do it without 24/7.
I agree with this...All I was saying was that Mayweather played a huge role, a much bigger role than people say. Also it wasn't just 24/7...it was Mayweather on 24/7....

Hatton had a big fanbase but he was never really a big PPV draw. What were his #s before Floyd?

it was the right fight at the right time.. everyone thought "de la hoya was back" because he sparked out mayorga.. he was the biggest draw against the sports best fighter.

the pacquiao fight wasn't as successful since although he one like every round against forbes, he looked like **** doing it.. not to mention everyone thought pacquiao was too small and it wasn't going to be much of a fight.

during this time there was alot of gang violence in the streets of Los Angeles of hispanics vs blacks... luckily it has since toned down.... if you dont think racism played a huge role in the selling of this fight than youre dead wrong.. if im not mistaken, the intro to 24/7 started with "american swagger ( swag=black) meets mexican fortitude" ...

fast forward to the night of the fight, i worked a grocery store.. saw many mexicans "cholos" coming in buying beer pumped for the fight saying, " its mexicans vs blacks tonight".... needless to say i heard that from several customers that night... safe to say, during the time there was alot of racism, luckily its not like that anymore, but the fight was definitely impacted by that..

"cholos" never truly backed Oscar up not even against Mayweather. Race riots in L.A was happening all the way back when I was in High School. It was even worse further back. At Leuzinger we had to lock down a few times.

But, that's beyond the point. Point is Mexicans never truly claimed Oscar. Pretty sure race had some to do with it. But, not much cuz' they didn't truly care for Oscar.

People were interested in Floyd's personality and intrigued by his undefeated record and DLH was the cash cow. Whether it was 24/7 or internet media that made Floyd who he is today, it does not matter. How many times do we hear that boxing is dying and MMA is taking over? Why when Floyd retired, UFC kicked Boxing's ass in the PPV department, but then Floyd comes back and crushes UFC numbers? And UFC/Strikeforce, just can't seem to beat boxing PPV numbers in a year while Floyd is around, hmm.

And if Floyd is benefiting from this era of internet and 24/7, why are other fighters not benefiting from it as well? How come we don't have more Floyd's? If boxing has so much exposure, why are people dying for boxing to get back on national television to expose the sport more? Are you being greedy and want the sport to be more mainstream than it already is? Or in reality you realize this sport is no longer one of the top dogs it used to be back then?

Sorry, but to sell like Floyd, you're gonna need an interesting personality and you're gonna have to back up what you say. Internet media and 24/7 can only do so much for a fighter, you have sell your own name in the first place, to get the attention of the internet media and 24/7. A lot of these fighters nowadays, can have all the internet media in the world, 24/7's for all their fights, and get the attention of the Intergalactic Media, and STiLL wouldn't sell over 300k.
