Aside from De La Hoya being such a huge draw. I would say a lot of it had to do with the first installment of 24/7. Mayweathers personality being fresh to everyone. Basically 24/7 being so groundbreaking.

        I agree.

Along with the fact that Floyd tried really hard in the trash talking department.

Mayweather was the P4P #1 at that time but in the mainstream he was unknown.

Out of no where the universally recognised best fighter in the world came full speed, talking ****.

Add the fact he was facing Oscar De La Hoya, no less.

No surprise it sold so well.

Biggest draw in the sport vs the number 1 p4p fighter in the sport. Plus all the hype.

          Its not rocket science.

but Oscar-Manny didnt do as well and Oscar was still the biggest draw in boxing and Manny was p4p#1

Yeah but Pacquiao isn't a showman like Floyd is. I had people stopping me on my daily jogs asking me about the Floyd/Oscar fight and how great Floyd looked in training with all the flash he was providing.

World was going through a recession at that time I think which can be a factor.
