Whoever is advising Gamboa must be a complete and utter fool.

Which fight on the calendar were the fans looking forward to more than this?

Again, boxing fans are taking a slap in the face. Promoters, boxers, tv companies---all of them, each one of them loves to see how much abuse we'll take and keep coming back. Boxing has become sick.

Buncha selfish pricks if you ask me, blaming a guy that seems to be standing up for himself and not willing to be the promoters' puppet. Isn't this what everyone wants from Pacquiao like Mayweather and Cotto did? Gamboa tries to do the same thing and everybody starts buying the bull**** the promoters' are trying to sell that Gamboa is a "coward". Maybe he didn't go on about this the right way but people do dumb **** out of anger, I know I do. But maybe just maybe there's a good reason behind all this, I don't think he would make such a "dumb" move knowing how deep in the waters he would be.

Im done arguing about this issue until more info gets out. Till then Ill just keep an eye from every bit of info I can find on Gamboa.
Dude, it doesn't matter what info comes out.... If he Gamboa didn't agree to the fight there wouldn't have been a press tour and HBO wouldn't have scheduled a date... What you are failing to realize is the time to do whatever the hell he is doing is (BEFORE you agree to a fight)... Like Tim Bradley, Tim Bradley had problems with his promoter but he didn't agree to a fight until they were resolved... There is a huge difference, if Gamboa simply said I'm not going to agree to any fight until I have my problems resolved there wouldn't have been a problem because Top Rank wouldn't have spent $ on the fight, HBO wouldn't have set aside a date and spent $ on the fight and Rios wouldn't have started training and showing up for the press tour... It's not hard to understand... There is no excuse for Gamboa's actions he could have simply done what Bradley had done and nobody would have said a thing.....

You would think with the position boxing is in currently, promoters would put personal nonsense aside and do what's best for the sport. That means stop avoiding fights with guy's from other promotions, stop ****ing over the fighters and just give the fighters and fans what is best for the sport.

Unfortunetly, that isn't going to happen.

Are you kidding me? Everyone was calling Bradley a ducker for not accepting Khan's offer.

I don't know what Gamboa's agreement is with his management, but I don't understand how anyone with all their senses can give their reps the power to make decisions for them without signing a contract. When something like this happens I have to assume his reps are trying to take advantage of him.

I read that the TR VP stated they had an "agreement in principle". WTF is that? Here's how I imagine this took place:

YG's Reps: Do you want to fight Rios for 1 million dollars.

          Gamboa: Sure, easy money.

YG's reps: Okay, we'll take care of it.

          ...a day later

YG's Reps: Okay Gamboa, you got the fight and the money.

Gamboa: but I don't see contract to sign.

YG's Reps: It's okay we took care of it.

Gamboa: So I beat Rios and I go Mayweather?

YG's Reps: uhhhhh... ahem... actually this renews your contract to TR for 3 years, 3 million for 6 fights.

Gamboa: **** you... I don't go to press conference!

Gamboa holds all the cards, nothing they can do about it.

Well I guess it's official; Gamboa calls out Rios only to duck him. Good move Cyclone.

That was a nice scene! Were you ever a screenwriter? lol

It probably played out something like that, except perhaps "Arena Box" should replace "TR." A lot of people here don't seem to get what apparently went down. Thank you for making it so a five-year-old could understand.

Quite frankly, I'm drawing conclusions from limited information. But so are the people pointing an accusatory finger at Gamboa. I could be wrong, but so can they. I just find it interesting how everyone loves to hate on the promoters, but, when it comes to this particular case, they decide to give them the benefit of the doubt. I understand that Yuri seems to be raining on everyone's parade, since the Rios fight is so highly-anticipated; but if he's being screwed, it's understandable that he's fighting back.

As for "agreeing in principle," it's apparently common in boxing. Although it may not be anymore...not after this ********....

Breaking news just in, the entire Brazilian football team has not showed up to the game. After going missing for 24 hours the entire Brazilian team finally gave their reasons: "**** that ****, **** you too." In other news the entire Argentinian team has gone missing citing "them fools" as the problem.

All HBO has to do is ban Gamboa from ever fighting again on HBO. It's a simple solution. Gamboa doesn't speak english. He is a cuban. has no fans. Prevent him from ever fighting on American TV ever again. It's simple throw the no speaking cuban out. simple
