            Who did Joe Louis duck?

Also, there's me forgetting that Wladimir dances around the ring.

That's valid. A definite comparison can be made in terms of a dearth of talent. They're respective records can be compared in terms of title fights. I have no problem with comparing the stats.

The problem for me arises when a comparison of the stats (including psychical size) has taken the place of a comparison of actual craftsmanship. For me that is how a boxer should be judged first and foremost. Boxing ability.

In those terms, Wladimir can't compete. He seems like the kind of man who would be the first to acknowledge though.

It's probably the same as Wladimir fighter former Cruisers if you go by how big the disparity is/was taking into account Louis/Wlads weight.
Heavyweight is heavyweight. Fighters should all be judged on the same criteria, and Louis fought plenty of fighters as physically large as Wlad and Vittels.

I have a hard time seeing Wlad getting KDed by Galento or Braddock or getting nearly KOed by a former middleweight. Louis was skilled and an admirable champion, but not so skilled that a direct comparison between him and Wlad should be seen as "oscene". He had his share of flaws too.
