No its not dumb by Floyd at all , this is the very same reason Manny wore 8oz against Margo , its about busting them up , actually 10oz are more likely to KO you they are more concussive , the smaller glove is about speed and breaking your face .

Mayweather hasn't busted anybody's face up in years. Anyway it dosn't matter what gloves they use, once Mayweather feels those powerful jabs from Cotto he's gonna turn super defensive and the pace and puch output will slow down from both fighters

The problem is that He will allow Cotto, a bigger puncher to wear 8oz gloves. That could be his biggest mistake because Cotto is a great body puncher and if He broke Pacquiao's ear drum with 10oz gloves, Cotto could do a lot more damage to Mayweather with 8oz gloves. Mayweather would not only face Cotto at his best weight, but with smaller gloves. His over confidence will back fire and I'm sure Team Cotto will agree to use 8oz.

Im hoping Floyd is aggressive like he was in his last 2 fights. Cotto will come to fight as always so this may be a hell of a fight.

Cotto is trying to be a "boxer" and has been running like a trackstar lately the Marg fight was atrocious. Made Andre Direll proud im sure.

8oz gloves will favour Mayweather, not Cotto. I doubt Cotto can hurt Floyd either way. He'd likely have to land something Floyd didn't see coming, and I think he's too slow to do that. But Mayweather will have a better chance at discouraging Cotto and busting up his face with the smaller gloves.

I can verify this Shane made the conscious (and foolish) decision to wear Grants

the only fighter I know of who had to wear Grants was Ortiz

Mayweather (quite righly) believes Cotto is chinny. He wants the 8oz gloves because he knows he is going to hit Cotto on the button hard in this fight.
