Ummm, I'm not sure if you know this or not, but Cotto of late 2007 early 2008 was a beast. Shane Mosley was the only fighter to finish the fight coming forward against Cotto; which was a HUGE accomplishment at the time.
I'm sure you'll say "But Cotto was hurt by Zab Judah, Demarcus Corely, and Shane Mosley". But guess what? So was Mayweather.
Don't wait until after Cotto gets beat by plaster man and a man that's refused PED testing for 2 years to act like he wasn't a force to be reckoned with at the time.
To those who say "But Cotto never beat anyone" then begin discreditiing all his opponents. No just no; if you followed the sport "at the time", you'll know why.
Cotto has earned my respect attitude wise but lets keep it factual. A prime undefeated Miguel Cotto sc****d bya 36 year old Shane Mosley. I think Cotto did enough to win but others think Shane could have gotten the nod. Back in 07 Mayweather was 5 years younger and sharper. No way Cotto would have beat Floyd EVER in my opinion. People continuously talk about Floyd making excuses for not fighting Cotto but Cotto NEVER pushed for the fight. How can the champion duck a challenger who is not calling him out and trying to make the fight? Cotto was content and so was Floyd.

Oh oh...the famous Floyd woulda, shoulda, coulda .
Mayweather was offered the Margarito fight whilst he was still at Top Rank.
I don't think anyone is claiming Mayweather ducked Margarito to fight Oscar.
He avoided him in 06, when he fought Judah, then Baldomir instead.
Like I said, I understand the reasoning to why he fought Judah and Baldomir. I get it.
He fought Judah because he honoured their verbal agreement and he beat Baldomir because he was the Lineal Champion. Again, I understand why he took those fights.
But, the fact reamains that he chose those fights instead of the Margarito fight.
How do I know Margarito is a tougher, more risky fight than Judah and Baldomir? Because it is...
Everyone knows and knew then that Margarito was the better, tougher, more risky fight to take at that point. Instead of Judah and Baldomir. Despite the fact they were former and current Lineal Champions.
Margarito was the best option out their for Mayweather and he instead chose Judah and Baldomir, this is a fact.
Was Mayweather scared of Margarito? No, I don't think so.
Did Mayweather willingly avoid him? He did. It's abudently clear.
For whatever the reason, he chose not to fight him, and fought two easier opponents instead. It doesn't matter how you slice it.
You're not listening. You're opinion don't make it facts. Floyd left Bob Arum when he was offering him Margarito because Bob Arum didn't want to make the fight with Oscar De La Hoya. Floyd left Arum, Oscar offered Floyd the fight and then postponed and that's when Floyd needed an opponent and fought Baldomir. He was not with Top Rank then. Floyd went for the better option and it paid off. Seems to me you are trying to slice it in your favor because everything I'm stating is supported by what actually happened while you can't back up what you are trying to tell me AT ALL.
Oh oh...the famous Floyd woulda, shoulda, coulda .
Shut up man. First off, Cotto not beating Floyd back then was and is my opinion. But the facts are both guys never pushed for the fight in 07/08. Take the Floyd hate somewhere else and come back and debate with me when you want to talk about the sport of boxing.
Mayweather was offered the Margarito fight whilst he was still at Top Rank.
And who told you that lie?
The infamous video where Margarito approaches Mayweather, Mayweather was already being interviewed on how he's planning to fight fight De La Hoya, and what does he think about his father saying no to training DLH.
Mayweather's last fight in Top Rank was the Judah fight in 2006.
I seem to remember a few videos where Mayweather seemed to be wearing his *****assness panties, when asked about fighting Cotto.
Like when Cotto was asked about fighting Mayweather one time and he said "I fights whoever my promoter wants me to fights". There's a video of that too. Ridiculous how you guys continue to blame Floyd for everything regarding fighters but never seem to acknowledge the other side AT ALL. Pretty gay if you ask me.

All I'm saying is Mosley, Corley, and Judah HURT Cotto AND Mayweather.
I'm not sayint Cotto would've won, but we all wanted to see that fight and it didn't happen for reasons that were rediculous (i.e Cotto has no fan base, MMA, DLH re-match, ect...).
Also, I thought the Mosley-Cotto fight was very close. I felt the fight was there for Mosley to take it, but he wouldn't throw the uppercut down the middle like he should have that would've won him the fight. Especially because they were in NY, Mosley should've taken the fight like he had the opportunities too. Just like Clottey had his opportunities and should've won.
But let's not act like just because Mosley was highly competitive with Cotto, that means Cotto wasn't anything as if Mosley is just some easy stepping stone at 35.

I for one have called Floyd a duck for only one situation in his entire career...That was so long ago, it doesn't even matter now. I never called him, or even saw him ducking Cotto, or even Margo (huge Margo fan back then) for that matter. Would have love to see the fights, but hey, we get it now.
I also agree with you on the fact that I can't see any version of Cotto that beats Floyd...Or any version of Floyd that loses to Cotto.

This is true, but Mayweather is his own boss; meaning all he has to do is say the word and fight negotiations begin.
If you notice, back in 2007/2008, Bob Arum being the problem/reason why the Cotto-Mayweather fight didn't happen was never the issue; the issue was Mayweather was retiring, going to MMA, re-matching DLH, Cotto not having a fan base, bored with boxing, ect.... Nothing about Arum.
