The coward should have been docked multiple points for his headbutting/elbows. But that probably wouldn't have had much dent on the scorecards as Maidana lost by a large margin.

    Smoger was still shocking though.

i was expecting robbery cries but watching the fight now im surprised, maidana's main plan is KO nothing else no plan b thats just the way he is and why he has lost this fight and other fights in the past but is good to watch for a brawl..

Real talk.... Maidana aint a boxer.... I dont know why people thought DEVON would lose this fight.... Was it because he lost to bradley?? Bradleys a good fighter!!!

Was it because of his last performance??

It should be easy to see that he handles 147 better, his frame was ready for 147 a while now imo....

that goes to show you how weight makes a difference, thats why Pacquiao wants to drain all his fighters and not fight them at 100%....Good job Devon, my STL homie.........."when you're at the top theres always gonna be haters below you"
You have to take in consideration that it was Maidana's 1st bout (as well as Devons debute) at 147. Maidana by the looks of it doesn't care well (speed, power, pulling the trigger...etc) at 47 as Devon did. If they would've both weighed in at 140lbs.; I think it would've been a much more interesting fight. Devon obviously carried his power, speed, and crispness of punch well to the WW ranks, while Maidana looked like he was inebriated after the 4th round. Maidana should return to the 140 swimming pool, Devon can play with the big boys at WW.

Though something has to said about the officiating of the Maidana/Alexander fight. There were fouls all over the place and Smogger didn't do **** about them. Excessive use of the elbow/forearm, multiple groin shots, hitting behind the head, hitting after the call to break and yet no warnings given and no points deducted. Shame on Smogger, he USED to be one of my favorite refs because he would let the fighters go at it. But you as the ref should have some control over the fight.

I feel there gotta be something wrong with him as he seemed to fight without inspiration and felt to be sad in the post interview, like someone close had recently passed away or something like that. There wasn't the usual fire in his determination and the way he walk forward with rage in his eyes.

Maybe something comes up post fight, let's wait.
Maybe he was sad he lost so clearly? I know it's far fetched but....

Just watched the fight, and after watching it 2 things are very clear to me.

                      1. Devon Alexander was correct when he said a few days ago that 140 was weakening him. He looked good, at 147; had great power, and good snap on his punches. Clearly he spend more time on his boxing in training, rather than trying to squeeze down to 140.
Just goes to show you what a difference a few lbs makes.

                      2. Marcos Maidana reminds me of Arthur Abraham. He has been figured out, and should be matched only with brawlers. This is a guy who has no boxing skills, only heart, and power. You can't put him in there with guys who move, he'll just end up losing a pts decision. Bring him Lucas, Berto, Ortiz, or Soto.
