Not to mention the Hatton that Pac beat was by far superior to the version Floyd beat. Do you also want me to mention DLH and Pac as well?
Neither de la Hoya or Hatton were coming off 3 fight KO streaks. Let alone a revenge victory over the cheater that initially beat him.

Like I said, mentally cotto is by far superior now than he was after margarito beat him. physically and technically he is the same fighter as he was when he was undefeated but now at JMW. Either way he would never beat Floyd or manny at any weight. People overrate cotto just because PAC beat him.

The Cotto that fought Manny would be a better version to win over floyd than the one now given that he was at a confortable wieght (147-150). Even though cotto might not have been that intelligent in the ring as he is now, that new cotto i think would work more at a disadvantage due to the fact he'll prob try and use his intelligence too much to fight Mayweather. Honestly since when did intelligence beat Mayweather? (I think most people would disagree with me) He needs to apply consistent pressure, more jabs and follow a simple plan.

Whereas the cotto now would be a better version in favor of beating manny due to more ring intelligence and keeping a bit of distance etc.

Ultimately the timing is great for both of them.
I completely disagree. The "Mayweather can't deal with pressure" thing is a complete myth, the only time Mayweather has ever struggled against a pressure fighter against Castillo, and Mayweather went into that fight with an injured shoulder. To the contrary, Mayweather thrives against guys who try to outmuscle him, ask Hatton, Baldomir, De La Hoya and Ortiz. His ring IQ and handspeed are more than a match for any kind of pressure today's WW's can put on him.

The only way to beat Mayweather is to outbox him, but by doing this you're trying to beat him at his own game. That's the conundrum with Mayweather, you try to use your power to break him down and he counters you, you try to outbox him and he picks you apart. That being said the only two times (not including Castillo) that anyone has found some degree of consistent success against Floyd is Judah in the early rounds, and De La Hoya with his jab.

Cotto is neither southpaw nor slippery so Judah isn't much help for him, but Cotto has a good jab and may be able to disrupt Floyd with it like De La Hoya did.

Cotto is my third favourite fighter while Mayweather is my second, but despite supporting Mayweather my main hope for Cotto is that he doesn't waste energy and leave himself open for counters by pushing Mayweather to the ropes. Cotto needs to pick his shots by utilising his jab, thus avoiding giving Mayweather counter opportunities. If he can stop Mayweather countering, keep the fight in the centre of the ring and apply pressure with his jab, he might be able to steal rounds by outworking Mayweather.

Still it's only an outside chance, but if Mayweather overlooks Cotto he'll come to regret it.

Wasnt DLH coming off of a loss to BH when he fought Floyd? Bottom line is Pac gave Cotto a brutal beating and Floyd is fighting the leftovers of Pac.

People shouldnt beg, borrow and steal credit for Floyd on a tecnicality all the time as if it is the only way to make Floyd look good. Floyd should just do the business so there are no arguments. If floyd went above and beyond the call of duty, his fans wouldnt be so desperate scraping the bottom of the barrell to get Floyd some credit.
If Floyd dont batter Cotto brutally, then Pac will not only have beat the better Cotto, he will have beat the better cotto even better than Floyd beat a damaged cotto.

Bottom line is Pac won't even touch his own leftovers without a catchweight.

Says a lot when you're hating on Floyd for doing what Pac refuses to do. Kind of like the whole Sugar Shane catchweight mess all over again.

I understand why people think this is better.
Cotto destroyed the Undisputed lineal super Ring Champion and young undefeated hungry lion Yuri Foreman with ease.
Destroyed P4P legend Mayorga and obliterated Margo, the human hurricane.
Yup, those 3 fights made Cotto the super human man monster he is today

                    roughly even.

pacquiao's cotto: drained, badly trained, coming off a bad performance, mentally fragile.

mayweather's cotto: extra wear and tear from the beating pacquiao gave him, hasn't been tested recently.

Lol mentially he was done. He quit in the ring. He got beat down by a bum named clottey. Lol he's still the same shytty fighter he was when he was undefeated. Only difference now is that he got revenge vs Marg and he's now at 154. Cotto is still shyt and will look like a clown vs mayweather. Like I said 4 years ago this is a mismatch and a shyt fight.
