There you go, I don't believe it's so much rig's popularity, it's his style. If consider was so great and barbara was shelled up why not take advantage? Even the announcers stated that there's things he could have done. A great fighter can pick apart any style.

I've been giving him the benefit of the doubt because I think he's a stud but...you'd think it's Rigo the guy he'd want most. What he said..basically sounded like this to me. "I'd rather fight a slower but smaller and weaker guy who will leave himself open for me to knock him out. It's less challenging"
        Totally agreed.

I have lost all respect for this Nito, he just wants to knock out littles guys for the rest of his career for ratings, but doesn't want true boxing true skill challenges. I hope he loses on Feb 4th...but I know it won't happen since he is fighting another shot little guy.

        Smh.

Donaire and Garcia would rather fight Vazquez and Arce, as opposed to Rigo, who is the only 122 lb fighter that could beat Nonito.

Hopefully Gamboa-Donaire gets made at least.

Donaire doesn't want another Narvaez, because he was shown to be not very patient in the ring, and with Rigo, someone who matches him in speed, can counter, is very defensive minded, and also packs a punch.....Nonito would be in trouble the first time in his career.

I like Donaire, but this is bull, and his fans seem to be overrating him after he KO'd Montiel. Granted, Nonito will smash Wilfredo, and this fight will be nothing more than a decent win on Nonito's resume, especially considering he was just KO'd by Arce.

Donaire is not looking to fight a stink out the house fight and Rigo was boring against Cordoba and boring till he stopped Rico. Rigo has solid skills but he is NOT exciting, period!

Sound like Donaire is concern about the entertainment aspect of boxing showbiz. He felt bad about the Narvaez fight and vowed not to fight a (boxer) like that.He is addressing all the haterism on him.1) He fight small boxers, to address this he moved up in weight.Still the haters gonna hate.

that can lead to some boring action. Hell the Ramos fight was awful save for the knockdown and ultimately the KO. It's not as if Rigo was some whirlwind in there he let Ramos off the hook when he should have had him out of there at least 2 rounds earlier
                Very true.

                Two points to make though:
                1. Rigo showed that he can lead when the opponent isn't throwing. And lets face it, Donaire is going to throw and there will be opportunities. He's not like a shocked and gun shy Ramos who threw, 3 power punches all fight long both one the front end and back end of engagements.
                2. Narvaez didn't even look for the counter punch opportunities. Hell, he didn't look to throw period. Nonito even said he left himself open on purpose to see if could get Narvaez to open up and throw and that he was bored... Rigo will be there to throw punches back.

While the counter punching style is similar to a "there to survive" style in that they don't generally lead the action, that's where the similarities end - especially between Narvaez and Rigondeaux.

The "worry" I have, for the lack of a better term, is what happens if Nonito leads, gets tagged, and then doesn't look to engage as openly or often? That's where we could get an ugly fight between the two.

Sounds like Donaire is not man enough to prove he is a real champ, If he was, he will fight anybody regardless ! Making himself look like a coward with his lame excuses, sorry but that's what it looks like.
He should had say something else, or at least leave the comments to the marinated man, but now the more he rejects Rigondeaux the more the fans will ask for it !

                    to your points

                    1. Rigo showed nothing to that effect. Had he shown he could lead don't you think he should have had Ramos out of there in no later than 3 rounds? Ramos was scared ****less in there and offered nothing in return surely Rigo saw that right?

                    2. Narvaez went in to survive agreed but Rigo seemed way to content to let the action happen in front of him even though he had a fighter deathly afriad to engage. That caused for some horrible lulls in action when in all

and the similarities also include larges lulls in action. By differing means granted but still makes for horrible viewing
